GROTE LED taillight only half works

I am unlucky with surplus LED lighting. My truck has an iffy LED headlight. My Grote taillights worked fine for a year, but now I notice that one taillight no longer illuminates the bottom 1 1/2 rows of LEDs.

Does this sound familiar to anybody? Ideas for a fix (other than trashing and replacing)?

This seems common. A buddy of mine who sells surplus has barrels of lights that only partially work, hasn't found a reasonable way to fix them yet.

At least your 1/2 LED tail light is still brighter than the stock light.

Pull it apart and trace the circuit. Nothing to lose.

Pul it apart?? It's all glued together.

That line where the red meets the white? Use a little coping saw and cut it.

If you fix it easily, just epoxy it back together.

it's all glued past that. The electronics are all potted.

I'm sad to hear they upgraded. Back when I was slinging parts at a Freightliner dealership, I used to pull Grote and Peterson "sealed" lights apart from time to time. Some weren't even glued that well and could be pried apart with a screwdriver.
