This was the third year at the airshow and it just gets better every year. Kudos to the organization team and the women's aux that put together the meal plan. Truly a team effort! Downside is how do we top this next year? It will take another truly special effort.

70Deuce mentioned my genset supplying power to our site, serving the MKT, and Fred LaPierriere's Weather Truck. One of the crowd pleasers requiring power was our Club's Misting Station. 70Deuce took a 12 volt pump, water buffalo, covered it with a camo net and created a misting system. It makes for a nice shady refuge from the 96* heat and sun for awhile.

I agree, the Ladies Auxiliary did a wonderful job of meal planning and execution. I think I may have even gained a few pounds this past weekend. The Gals also did a stellar job with the PX sales, surpassing last year's receipts. No downside to planning next year, we've already been kicking around a few ideas.

The second picture shows our movie screen with the fireworks show in the background. First picture shows the "crowd" Great screen and sound system provided for some great late night entertainment.

Old and New

Someone commented on the years of aviation history with the spread of time from P51 to F22 aircraft. I wonder what the spread is amongst the Military Vehicle Collectors of Colorado displays. I did not see any of the WW1 trucks displayed this year so the oldest vehicles would have to be WW2 vintage. I think the club Weasel is 42 or 43 as it is a M29C model. The Lewis Light tank is a 1943 and I suspect the Halftrack is in the same vintage of production after the start of WW2. Most of the Jeeps were produced after the start of the war as well. I think the oldest vehicle there would have to be one of the jeeps, the Ford cargo truck or "Tillie the Toiler" a 1941 Autocar. The newest might be the M109a4 with 170 miles when it was released or maybe the Volvo radio truck.

Anyone know??????

A few more. The Sherman was very popular as you could imagine.

Man that F22 "Raptor" looks pissed off just sitting there. Did you hear that pilots are refusing to fly it because of some kind of oxygen deprivation while in flight.

But the Raptor - the most expensive fighter ever - has been plagued by a mysterious flaw that causes its pilots to become disoriented while at the controls from a lack of oxygen. cbsnews.com
