Many of you keep hearing us say DO NOT USE starter fluid in your CUCVs. Here is a good reason why.

Hiigh compression and starter fluid = BIG BANG

This piston is from a Perkins 4 banger, non-turbo. Nothing special about it.

One of the yard hands thought it would be a good idea to start it with fluid he had in his car.

Wonder who is going to pay the bill for a rebuild?

My personal favorite, a bed of coals under the engine.

Does that actually work?

Now, please note, I did not ask, "is that a good thing to do?"

I'm pretty sure I already know the answer to that. :mrgreen: I'm new to diesels, but I'm not completely stupid. Butane or propane as a propellant isn't going to be much kinder than ether, I'm thinking.

What you do is put a string through the wristpin bore, and have the culprit wear that piston as a tribute to his cleverness.

Are glow plugs that hard to use???

:doghead::doghead::doghead::doghead:
Some people just shouldn't own diesel engines Skinny, They are ignorant to how a diesel engine works or the fact that using ether, or pouring a flamible liquid down the intake will result in costly damage. This topic has been covered at nauseam. Some diesel owners, old and new, just don't get it.
