Looking to buy a CUCV

Wow the bearings are a heck of alot cheaper for the m1009 than the m1008.Timken is the best bearing you can buy and the fact you can rent a truck and trailer that cheap thats amazing. Good luck and we all expect to see pictures. :] Of the m1009 hahaha

No worries, we can't have the best website out there, without some rules and some maintenance.

I appreciate your cooperation.

The plastic part of the radiator has a crack. Is that something I should be extremely concerned with? What I mean is that something that would be caused by high pressure backup? Would it just be a defective part like the BMW has issues with? Just checking to see if that would have been caused by a some major issue (example Over heating, blown gasket).

I've not seen any CUCV with a plastic part of the radiator.

Are you talking about the radiator end tanks? Original or good quality replacements should be brass/copper.

Hea Marcus, I just suggested doing the job in the sellers drive to avoid any problems with local law inforcement. Parking lot repairs are not tolerated here due to insurance issues. I myself would also trailer it. The OP seems determined to drive it so watta ya gonna do? Who knows what else is wrong with this thing. A breakdown on the highway will be far more costly than the cost of a trailer and a truck to pull it with.:)

Oh, sorry, Wayne. I got mixed up about who said what! :cookoo:

Yeah, that trailer rental is going to look mighty cheap compared to the towing bill!

Hea ricksherryjosh1. Judging by the pics posted up by Smokinyoda, that truck is pure junk. Respectfully, if you don't posess better than average mechanical skills, you might be getting in a little over your head. That is a long term project truck for someone with advanced mechanical skills and a big wallet. I would suggest getting a truck with far less mechanical issues. Im pretty handy with wrenches and a welder. I would not even consider this truck unless it was given to me. Keep searching.

Thanks Wayne just started looking for a new project last week. I always liked them cucvs even when all my buddies were fighting over who was going to drive the humv. I sold my 52 ford pickup and and my 87 pro craft bass boat, now need something hefty to take it's place to haul my 1974 mini out of the shop and to the race track. If you guys are pretty sure I shouldn't have an issue finding another I'll do a pass on this. I still have a good bit of welding and fab work to do on my mini (replacing the floor pan, placing a CBR1000 engine in and making it RWD).

Yea man, you can find far better than that. You don't want any issues if your using it as a haul truck. It could ruin a good weekend at the track. BTW, Im not a Ford guy, but that is a sweet truck.[thumbzup]

Thanks for the advice Wayne, also thanks for the complement on my truck. I sold it to a guy in NY who seems to love it. I love my old ford trucks (that was my 3rd on) and cars. It's hard to beat a chevy 350. Never owned a Diesel....Well not yet

Wicked S10 bro! Is that a Typhoon setup? If you sold the 52 to a guy in the tri state area, I might have seen it. There's a guy running around here with one just like that. Your never too old to have cool toys. I sold my 1986 VFR 750 when I was 48, wish I still had it.
