What is the value of an M109 Shop Van Body

OK my fellow OD Iron Addicts...I need some advice. What would you guys say the M109 Shop Van Body in the included pics is worth? Under the plywood with the tool a part of the wood floor has been pulled to see if the metal pan needed replacing and it does. All the rusted metal in that spot has been cleaned out. Also a small part of the floor in the pic with the fan & drill has been pulled as well to verify the floor needs replacing but other than that it is good to go. Please let me know what you all think this is worth. Thanks.

Is this shelter on a truck, or separate? If on a truck, and that truck is in good running order and decent shape, then $3000-4000. If it's just the box you're looking at, maybe $500-750.

The box is currently on the truck but needs to come off so the newer one can take its place. In my signature area there are links for the new shop van body that is to replace it and a full picture of the truck with the old one currently on it. Your estimate was close to what I was thinking. I was thinking $800.

I take it just the box is to go ? did not say if you would do it or whomever purchased it was responsible for the entire project.

In the second senario - I would pay Zero for the box as it would be shear labor and cost of crane involved. I would have not opened all the metal up so therefore you did it no justice taking a peek - again just my opinion but I am not buying it either.

Not worth selling as its too costly to sell for metal compared to costs to pull it off or strip it. Find a group of across the boarder individuals and have them go at it for what metal they can sell out of it - equals free labor and you get your box off.

But then again I am an idiot and this is only my unprofessional opinion not worth two cents.

Ther is not a big market for them . Unless someone close buys it , it's not worth the cost to ship . I would say with repairs needed $500 would be on the high end with a local buyer. You might get more scraping it out and selling the doors , windows ect.

From what I understand its only a few bolts that hold it on so it shouldn't be too bad with a two man crew (ie. Me and who ever wants it) and a large fork lift and some straps. My last...and least favorable option...is that C&C will swap the boxes and keep my old one plus an additional $50. If I can get $500 for the van body it will REALLY help with the cost of the M109A3 Shop Body, M105A2, and S-250G deals I just worked out. Plus I wanna clean up the frame and have it undercoated because I'm having C&C undercoat the 1998 shop van body before they mount it.

You know the funny thing is...I paid what I paid for this truck ($4600aua) because of the fact it was an M109A3. I even flew to Florida and drove it all the way back to Maryland which cost another $1000. I guess we live and we learn. That's why I'm just gonna fully restore it (over time of course) and make it an M109RV and keep it FOREVER. I hate losing money. I guess I'm a little to trusting with folks. At least its fairly solid and made the long trek from FL to MD. Last month I also bought two straight & rust free doors, two springer seats, a pretty nice hardtop, a new windshield, and a proper ladder for it (the one that came with it was all wrong) but it is now going to be a spare. Take a look at the links in my signature area to see the new shop van body. Its **** near perfect :jumpin:.

Those things are great for storage on the farm.
You cant have enough storage. Just put it up on concrete blocks and get a good lock.

My only point was there is labor - and I do nothing free - costs something.

SO if you remove it which as you said only a few minor bolts - than a forklift or crane - which there is a cost to operate even if its yours - adds a dollar figure to it even if you keep it for yourself. Selling it adds a whole different light onto it. If you just want it off - cut the bolts loose - back up really fast and slam on the brakes - it'll come off.

There are folks wanting the hardware like windows complete - frames etc.

Just wish we knew if you wanted to sell it - keep it - make a dog house out of it ??

Then just keep it and fix it it up. Much cheaper and more satisfying to just repair the bad areas and build it out to an RV. Very hard to find a completely clean 109 box and what you have can be repaired, **** mine was in worse shape when I started out. Keep it and repair it is the best option if you really want a M109RV.

I want to sell it to raise money for the stuff I just bought and am paying for over the next few weeks. $500 would help...ALOT. Though I would part it out and scrap the rest if I could do it quickly (over the next week or two). I could probably make $500 that way too.

The flooring is nothing - leave the metal out - there are far superior products today than what was available for them to work with back them and techniques.

I replaced the entire flooring in my 109 - I will not tell you how long it took me because you would not believe me - but a few folks here recall. This is only a twitch of what was done to two 109 boxes. Come to the Ga Rally - you will see even better interiors than what I have in mine from what these members make them into - not that is PRICELESS.

This is 1 1/8th modular flooring - 19 ply

You must have missed one of my comments. Here's what happen. For six months I've been looking for a perfect Box but found more like mine. So I started the process of disassemble about two weeks ago. Well on Sunday I struck a deal with TACTICAL6 for his/his sons S-250 & M105A2 and the the VERY NEXT DAY found a PERFECT 1998 M109A3 Box so I sold one of my cars on craigslist (in less than 4hrs) this morning to pay for it. The man is bringing my cash on Friday or Saturday...I'm paying TACTICAL6 on Sunday (maybe sooner)...and then paying C&C the balance on the 1998 Box next week.

What you paid for the truck w/box was not far off the latest GL prices. They've gone over $4000 at auction several times lately because there are so few left. I don't believe you were taken advantage of, so don't beat yourself up.

The box by itself is not all that valuable, but it can add $1000-1500 to the price of a M109 truck (M35) without a box. If I were closer and had an extra M35A2 or -A3, I'd gladly pay $1000 if you could mount it on my truck. IMHO, it's worth $500 or less if I have pay to haul it and mount it myself.

Keep it as a spare in case you go under a low bridge or limb, and use it as a shed in the meantime for your spare tires and MV parts.

Just a mention - to see its worthwhile to SS for someone to Pay for a membership for a year to sell - if the box was for sale - this would be a great place to donate to SS plus sell now that you know what its worth - just a note. I just know its not a way to bypass a membership fee.

The module trailer flooring I get wholesale - it took me exactly one weekend in my spare time to pull and replace it. That was also burnishing off all the mid to top of the crossmembers and bedliner coating them before install of the floor . the floor was also coated and sealed and then spray bedliner coated from below.

All in all time wise - roughly 9 1/2 hrs - there are folks who remember it so they know its no BS.
