I have a 1028 thats giving me fits trying to solve the gen 1 light going on with the heater fan. I have checked the voltage both batteries have a full charge even with driving this truck around for a month now the batteries have the correct volts when checked with the truck shut off and the 14 volts when running. The trucks oil pressure light never did come on when the key is turned on and the only time the gen 1 light comes on is when the heater is turned on and the light shines very brightly when its on and the heater motor does not turn. The gen 1 light has never come on when the key is turned to the on position just like the oil pressure light the fan motor is not siezed either it turns by hand freely and runs fast and quietly when useing a jumper wire from the 12 volt junction block to the motor as a test. I took the gen 1 down to the local rebuilder he tested it and it put out 14.2 volts so it seems this is still good the gen 2 light comes on at start up it always has since I got the truck a little bump in the RPM and it goes off like it should. The voltage gauge goes right up into the green as it should when the gen 2 light goes out the gauge never moves when the heater is turned on and the gen 1 light comes on when the ignition is turned on the only light that lights up is the gen 2 light I have been reading and rereading the threads that turn up under a search but cant seem to find a cause for this problem.
