Got my ex-brush truck home today! Tried to tow bar it home, no dice rears all locked up, so hooked up a couple of batteries, built up pressure(kind of) squealed for about thirty yards, hooked up my 818 and drove home, really a nice ride, bigger cab and smooth shifting! Now all I need is everything that makes it a tractor from the cab back! Great buys on GSA, I may have to have another!

I'm glad that you got it home. It's different going from the older manual shifts to these newer automatics. I love my 923.

You got a great price on that. I was eyeballing it for a parts truck but that would have been too rich of a price for me for a parts truck. I'm just glad to see a fellow SS member get it :)

Nice truck. As far as the 5th wheel and stuff you need. Contact CSM Davis in MS. He has those available at good prices. (Should have one from the truck we are converting to a dumper)

It is very smooth shifting but way more complex, I am really going to have hit the manuals, especially with the fire department modification!

It's different. I call it a hybrid auto because you can actually bang through the gears like a manual minus the clutch action if need be.

The ones I have seen with winch have been well over three grand(if lucky) and you don't know what you are getting on GL, maybe a little better on GSA but only if the yard guy wants to tell you. The other side of this is the yard is only 80 miles from me, and even if the truck was toast the winch would convert a M923 to a M925 pretty quick plus all the additional parts I could glean from the remainders of the truck. I normally like to go and inspect since I can drive from work in an hour or so to have a look, but in this case the auction ended in less than an hour so I just had to wing in on the single photo GSA post, this time I got a pretty sweet deal with just the luck of the draw. I expect a lot more of these trucks showing up if the flow of Freight Lines continues to the rural fire departments, good for them and good for us!

I snagged a 931 for peanuts, but it was luck. It was listed as does not run. Outside PM work, I've only had to replace the alternator. It could use another roof though.

Mine is not in mint condition but it has been stored inside for the last few years so no rust at all, the stack is gone removed during shipping(and tossed by forestry) the air intake was shorten by 3-5 feet(brush truck) the hard top is gone, no doubt moved to another in the RFD's fleet, the middle axle has parking brakes to replace the spring brakes, and they added a ton of lines for lights, it also has about a dozen air leaks! But I am glad to get it, I looked at some of the trucks at Shelby(my old NG summer Camp location) but the 932s went way higher than I could pay for the unknown condition and Shelby is a ten hour drive at 50mph if everything goes as planned! I like the forestry auctions!

Yes I have a stack of good fifth wheels that I can let you have your pick of and while your here get some other parts to fix up your truck, intake, exhaust, and others. Come and get it before it all goes to south east Asia!

Are you in a little town north of Shelby, I was heading to New Orleans two years ago and saw a salvage type yard just off the highway in the middle of a small town, lots of 900 series parts and pieces along with trailers and a lot of tires! You are just too far from me!
