Well, after a deal that has been in the works for the better part of a year, my new M1010 is home and what a peach she is. I worked out a deal with ChevyC60 to trade my M108 crane for this ambulance. Roy has been working on it for weeks to get it ready to make the trip from North to South Florida. One of the more notable fixes he did was to replace the charging system eliminating the troublesome Duvac. A huge round of thanks to Roy. Enough of the banter, here's the prize.

It just gets better. Tightened up PS and A/C belts and did a few other things. Plugged in the A/C compressor and climbed in the back and lit up the A/C. I just came in from a most pleasant nap sleeping in the A/C. It's near 80 today and much colder than that in the back of the 1010. Oh, MWMules/Dave, thanks so much for the litter backrests. Thanks to those I think I'm going to move into the 1010.

Dell, I didn't plan on driving this to the GA Rally as I have a cabin but I'm sure digging it right now!

Today we reached a high of four degrees. I'd rather be in a warmer climate like in the back of your M1010. Sweet ride! I would convert that to an expo rig, sell my house, and live the dream :)

That's a great looking bamalance. You always wanted an MV w/ac, now ya got it. Lots of versatility with that one. I bet the boys consider it their new fort!!!! Nice score.

Electrical Upgrade

So as I understand this, 2 of the Leece Neville 12V alts replaced the 24V units and the DUVAC. All of the factory wiring not used was closed up with shrinkwrap and secured out of the way. Since these are self excitiing and had the isolated ground, they were wired directly to the batteries. Top alt charges the front battery and the bottom charges the second. It's working wonderfully. Roy even checked voltage at the factory volt meter and made a scale so I can get real close at estimating exact voltage. Its running right at the high side of the green. Not a single was was cut or removed and he even put in fusible links ob both alternators. The last thing I'm worried about is a charging system put together by Roy. Few pics. Looks like a great score. It looks great. What are the plans, besides full operational capacity? Are you going to do a repaint or anything else? Spill the beans man!

I'm going to enjoy it as is for a spell. Eventually a repaint. First thing is going to be a receiver hitch so I can tote my M101A3 and Pioneer Trailer, nothing heavy. Need the hitch so I can tote my cart to the 2 rallys I attend. The back is going to stay pretty much stock except the addition of a house battery and a couple of strings of LEDs. The house batt will also run an inverter. This will be a short term camper for the boys and I. I do have a 700R4 transmission for it as well but no hurry on that.

JW4x4, the boys were not a bit happy about the prospect of me moving the M108. Inside of 15 minutes all was well and they can't wait for Friday so they can camp in the back. I went from zero to hero in no time flat.
