My 6TL's finally gave up. I have been searching for the thread that has the 3 battery setup, but no joy. I'd like to do this and get the Delco 12 volt alternator and bracket from TM America. Anybody have the link to that thread handy?

I don't have the link, but I have three batteries in my M109, two for starting and one for the 'house' power. I have a hmmve dual alt setup on mine. Has worked well for years now.

if you use a vanner battery equalizer (good for battery health anyways) then use the 12volt tap to run a charge controller you can keep a bank of whatever number of 12 volt batteries in parallel charged as you want.

I have not yet installed a 3rd battery in my box even though i did weld in the supports and have 2 truck of the 3 batteries in there now along with the equalizer.

I planned to add a 30amp charge controller for the 12v bank, but the vanner pdf manual does show an acceptable way to wire it as the charger controller for the 12 volt bank but this doesn't isolate them from draining the 24volt bank like a seperate charge controller would. or the completely seperately charged system, personal choice really.

yes, 3 group 31 batteries fit well with room to spare. I have two group 31 batteries for the truck and a large deep cycle for the house. still had to make spacers. those 6TL's are big batteries!
