recently purchased a 7000lb 4" drop axle with electric brakes and was wondering what to do with the original axle and landing gear. I would love to keep the hand brakes but dont think thats gonna work. Wheels look almost new and landing gear works great. I wonder what that might be worth. Thanks

You can get electric brakes that have a parking brake. Use the mil brake levers and just make some new cables.

you ca. List stuff for sale on this site after you pay for a membership ($15).

any photos of your mods??? I would like to see how it turned out.... I am using half of axle and one tire/wheel as a base for my new Bar-B-Que Pit.. (makes it easy to spin around when the wind changes...)

The axle is the same as stock military width 68" hub face to hub face. Purchased from AL_KO axis 3501 Reedy Drive Elkhart, IN 4651 574-266-8282 Price for axle was $271.00 plus delivery to Upstate NY $125 Best deal I could find. I'm gonna weld that pice of 4" pipe cut in half under the spring seats so the stock U bolts fit better.

I really wanted to put the same rims on it but it was way too expensive I was trying to save a buck by using this trailer and building it myself.

So I finally got to swapping out the axles. Got tired of stepping over the stupid thing in the garage. I can't believe how heavy the old axle is in this thing. only thing left to do is hook up the brake wires and swap out the landing gear. will take some pics.

IMG_0997.jpgIMG_0998.jpgIMG_0996.jpgIMG_0999.jpgok so welded a piece of 1/2" thick 4" pipe to the bottom of the axle to beef it up and get it closer to the original size axle. Then made the spring perches like the original ones welded them on. Made a ramp and there you have it. just got to figure out what to do with the landing gear. Also used the original u bolts had to tap them and cut them and took out 3 leafs every other one of the smallest ones.
