Hello,

I just bid on an:

nsn 2520-01-082-8143 Part#: MA317-21020

On Gov Liq it stated it was for an M916. I bid late and won. I was thinking it was a Cat 7155 16 speed. Now further research suggests it is a "replacement" for the Cat. $3100, brand new. Am I screwed, if I'm allowed to use that term? I'm just learning about all the numbering systems and an NSN # apparently just begins to get you there. Thank you.

Gary

If it's a replacement for the cat tranny it is probably a Allison 6 or 7 speed , posting a picture may help.

Assuming you didn't overpay, you should at least be able to recoup your money if you bought the wrong thing.

Yes for sure that is the Cat transmission. It is a rebuild, from Ft Polk. My 916 has one of those in it and it works very well. Those things are VERY heavy, like close to a ton.

Default when they have your CC and contractual agreement. Yes, but I would have to reverse charges on the CC and demonstrate that the take back was justified. Right? And then they might ban me from the sight. Yes/No? Thanks. Gary.

Gov Liq estimates the gross weight of the tranny and container as 1280 #. As long as the shipping company doesn't figure something more. Thanks. Gary.

That would be a good trade off, if I'm correct on that tranny. But after retirement my hobby changed from gasoline Studebaker power, to military vehicles, and I wonder what other (if any) changes would have to be made; e.g., movement of mounts, etc; or would it be a straight swap out. I will try to find the link and publish that. That will show you what they showed me. Thank you. Gary.

If you default on the sale GL will lock your account and any subsequent account you attempt to open. I accidently defaulted on a sale (credit card had expired and they did not tell me). If you want to play again you will have to pay a fee and jump through their hoops.

Gary, one of the numbers you list is the Cat, the other is the Allison.

If you actually got a new-in-box Allison you are well in-the-money. Other then some time you should come out great.

That's the Cat semi auto trans with the air valve body on the top left. The trans that I would like to have in my M920 would be the Allison 4700SP. I have heard that you can set it up to run on a mechanical diesel engine. Lots of green backs to switch it out but is the way of the future heavy haulers.
