This year the planners of the POW/MIA Day Ride have decided to do something different.
Each year for the last several many groups of bike riders have assembled here in Columbus and we supported the effort with MV while other groups made a ride to the Andersonville POW Camp in Andersonville, Georgia.

This year, I think most all of the groups have elected to make the ride to Andersonville and have a ceremony there.

CAMO has been asked to lead the ride From the Infantry Museum here in Columbus to Andersonville with at least 3 MV's (WWII Jeep, Proud American Guntruck, and possibly the Black Widow Guntruck.

Once in Andersonville I intend to establish hasty fighting position and static display at least one vehicle from WWII, Korea, Vietnam and current Iraq/Afghanistan eras.

We are working on getting a HMMV from a neighboring County Sheriff's office. Don't know how that will turn out yet.

Anyhoo...the POW/MIA Ride (at least out component) will leave the Infantry Museum here in Columbus at 09:45hrs 21 September (Saturday) and will return at will Saturday afternoon/evening.
The ride will be appx 51 miles and last prolly 1.5hrs.

If anyone is interested in riding in one of our vehicles and touring Andersonville please come on down to the CAMO Compound around 08:00hrs 21 Sept. and ride along.

They are trying to get Sen McCain to attend but I haven't heard any update on that lately.

More to follow as the time draws near:

After reading this, I really hate that Annual Training will span 7 to 29 September this year. I would love an opportunity to drive "Proud American" again. I'm going to talk to Atomic and see if he can substitute drive something and enjoy the camaraderie that takes place at any event that CAMO puts on or participates in. I'll make you proud for the upcoming 8 years, walking tall and looking strong, but once I get my 20 year letter, I'll no longer have an excuse for being coded AWOL from training like this. I hope all goes without a trouble spot on the horizon in CAMO's support of this mission.

Thanks Joe...and you are NEVER carried "AWOL" on the CAMO Battle Roster....just on an authorized mission!!!:D

Russ is more than welcome to come up and participate but we should be OK on drivers. We will only drive 3 vehicles in the ride and the others will be transported.

Just thought some SS members may want to ride along or maybe meet up in Andersonville for the day.

Well Tim, that pic looks better than if he would have posted a picture of me standing at the front of the truck!!!! You've seen both, your choice and I'll relay the answer to PB. I don't really care for the tattoo's either and my wife has none. Tattoo's on other girls don't bother me as I'm about as useful as a dog chasing a tire when it comes to other women. I wouldn't know what the heck to do with it if I caught it.
