When I first start up my M923A2 the system builds air and honks normal when it reaches proper PSI. I then drive it, park and shut off the engine somewhere. Come back restart engine then the CTIS does a long drawn out sick cow honk, I hit the hwy button to stop it, it's kinda embarrassing. It then attempts again and usually get the long drawn out sick cow honk and cancel a second time by pressing the hwy button, by the third time it honks normally. Anybody have a clue why it's doing that? Like I said it only happens when I shut down and restart the truck a few minutes later.

Ooh nellie you blew a wheel seal. Stick your finger in the 3 quick release valves. One at a time of course. One will be greasy the bad seal is on that axle. Unplug the controller it will let air out of your tires the pressure in the system will be low because the air leak in the axle and low pressure holds the wheel valves open to dump pressure.

So then why does it honk normal upon first startup?I'm not talking one time occurrence this is all the time. Occasionally it will honk normal upon second startup at a store or something but usually the drawn out honk. I have no leaks to speak of air wise(sit for a week and have about 30 seconds of air filling a tire) no leaks grease wise.

It does a pressure test, sees low pressure and tries to fill. When it gives fill pressure the air leak causes the honking whine. It's hard to pinpoint it sounds like its coming from all over its like it reverberates thru the entire air system.

The M923A2 I picked up from Barstow on Monday started honking intermittently. Was alarmed at first, then figured out that the horn was shorting out somewhere in the steering wheel. Would go on/off when I turned. haha.

Yup it sounds like an alarm. Each axle has a large outer seal and 2 inner ctis hub seals. You have to pull the wheel and then pull the axle out thru the hub end to replace them. It is fine to drive it like that as long as the control is unplugged. The lubrication seals should be fine.
