I have seen a lot of ads in the classifieds for members selling parted out M939 series trucks. I was curious as to the reason for so many trucks been disassembled. I decided to do a poll on the reasons.

Though I haven't done it, I believe its because a guy can pick on up for $2,000 and sell power-train for that or more, and still have to rest of the truck to make pocket money. That and with us on SS picking these trucks up, there is a surplus for all those trincket parts that are broken on our restorations. My 2 cents

My parts truck was missing parts right from GL and was bought for the winch system(20000#). I'll use a few other parts and save some electrical parts for spares and sell the rest to just recoup my initial purchase price back.

I try to only part out non runners,or damaged ones. But this week I parted out a perfectly good running m923a2 because some contacted me and needed a 8.3 for a tub grinder.Sold the engine for $3k.No brainer there.

Bought a 925 to get tires and maybe some other stuff for the deuce. Figured I could part out the rest to recoup the cost. Problem is, now I'm in love and want to keep the 5ton. If I can figure out how to feed it and still be able to afford food, the deuce may be going away.
