Great tips, but what about wasps? I can't keep them away. I've tried the store bought wasp traps, the homemade types with soda bottles, etc. I tried multiple deterrent sprays. The only thing that works is hitting them directly with wasp killing spray. Of course that only works if you can locate the nests. I took out at least 5 nests on my 5 ton and they're still lingering. What works as a deterrent!?
If you can, regularly move the vehicle, 50 feet or so.

I haven't read through the entire thread but I used a box of the original Irish Spring Bar soap to keep the critters away. I have a bar on the air cleaner of my deuces and one in the cab. Just cut a couple holes in the box to let it breath. The rodents hate the smell and stay away. This works for me in my area anyways.

If any body has a pole barn or shop with mice, if you have a space and money, Crushed Granite rock, will work for around houses, shops, or if you have that as you top base in a pole barn or even in the open. It will keep all mice, rats rodents out. The crushed granite is too sharp for their feet and they will avoid it like... well like the black plague. I didn't believe it but our local quarry told us if we had ONE mouse in our house they would refund 100% the cost. Well to this day not a single mouse has peeped. something mothballs and ammonia never did all the time.

I've tried dryer sheets, all kinds:roll: and the mice seem to like it

Now to tackle the little buggers leaving nuts on top of the air cleaner, and the tops of the heads.:x
Ya mean like this ..
We have a 60ft tall black walnut tree about 30 feet from the deuce parking space . Going to look into some ideas on here like the mothballs to keep them critters out of the engine compartment. Any other ideas are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

This past winter I had rat problems in my and Swiss's truck, they were eating a WEDGE of decon a day, for about 10 days I was replacing decon everyday, my thoughts on this was "if the rats were hungry, feed them, I did not want pita to charge me with starving rats" after the first ten day the decon eating slowed down, finally to no rat snacks and no sign of rats, I figure the rats died of OBESITY.

They not only cleaned up ALL the decon, they ate most of the box as well.

I put about 5 mothballs inside of a cheesecloth-wound it up like a ball. Made several of these and hung them like Christmas ornaments all over my trucks. I had also placed loose mothballs under the trucks in an effort to trip up the rescals before they climb aboard. The one truck that I didnt decorate got all pee'd up and smelled like a mouse lavatory. I am going in with peppermint oil this year.

Peppermint Proverbs

Bumping an old thread with a testimonial.

All of the trucks that received a teaspoon of peppermint oil on a tinfoil tray, are mouse free.

This link says we should soak cotton balls with the correct oil. Even a beer cap full of Peppermint oil on the floorboard has worked for us. A drop in the Blueberry pancake batter isn't bad either.

Good advice Plowboy. I haven't had any problems for awhile, but am in town with a lot of cats in the neighbor hood. Will keep this for future reference.
