I should have never bought this truck..Im smiling like a kid in a candy store. First off, I am not mechanically inclined whatsoever. Now, I tried the bypass method and it seemed to have fixed the problem. I guessing that definaltey means its the regulator? I connected the line from the vac pump straigt to the line going to the tranny..smooth as butter..Now, what are the negatives of this and will it cause damage other then having to downshift to 2nd when going up hills. Will this be fine until i can pick up a regulator?

thanks agian SS

Just get a new regulator. parts maybe $5 compared to $120 for a rebuild kit. Congrats on finding the issue. In case you didn't know. You bought this truck , so you can feel like a kid in a candy store, when you managed to fixed it all up.

BTW check the rubber connector on the vacuum regulator, maybe it is damaged???
doesnt look great but I dont believe its the problem.

I have used the ac delco number that I founder here on the site..regulator looks to be about 90 bux. Oh well if it fixes the problem, its worth it.

Remove and toss the rubber adapter on the valve at the IP. Just remember, Top port for Transmission. The rubber part is no longer available, and no one that I know of has ever found a replacement part for it. It can be safely removed, and connect the hoses directly to the valve.
