I have a new-to-me mep004a generator. I changed all the filters and fluids, they were all drained anyways. It fires right up and runs smooth. I can adjust the frequency with the manual throttle control but the frequency adjustment knob below the freq meter doesnt seem to do anything. In the TM where it says "adjust frequency rehostat" it also says "(precise sets only)" which mine is not. So am I to assume the knob is there but just not used as the TM would indicate or do I have an issue somewhere?

IIRC the adjustment knob only works with the 400hz units. On the utility units, engine speed adjustment is the only way to set freq..

The reostat works with the precise models which have an electronic speed control (which governs frequency) for the engine. The utility models use a mechanical speed control which is adequate but not as stable as the electronic version.

OP: adjust your frequency with the throttle knob to the lower right of the instrument panel. Turning counter clockwise increases frequency. Once you find your 'sweet spot' just leave it there, and next time you startup you will be right on speed and frequency.
