The best lockout hubs for a Deuce

Hey All,
I have searched the forum and found many threads with the question of, "Is it worth putting lockout hubs on the front axle of a Deuce?", But I can't seem to find any threads asking, "what are the best lockout hubs for a Deuce?" I like the Ouverson Offroad and the AVM lockout hubs. The Ouverson hubs have an Aluminum housing. I think the AVM housings are steel? Which do you all think are the overall toughest and best lockout hubs to run on a Deuce? Also, Has anyone replaced the Front axle drive shafts/CV's with the Ouverson offroad U-Joint style? What do you think of U-Joint style front axles versus the stock CV joints? Thanks in advance.

It will depend on why you want them. I prefer Selectro's but that's because they are more period corect. If I was offroading I'd probably go with AVM's. If I was really off roading (and could stand how far they stick out) i'd go with Oversons.

Overson, are hands down the best. Made in USA. I can't imagine a spot that you would take a duece to that was so tight that you had to worry about the extra ~1.5 inch.

I know there's a good thread out there discussing the merits of the 3 choices (AVM, Ouverson, Selectro) but I can't find it right now. Try these for starters:

I can only think of one guy here: He had a rock crawler or something and he had already bought a ton of really heavy duty stuff for the rockwell. Sold the crawler, still had the stuff (Axles, hubs, etc) and put it on his deuce.

The only axle failures I can think of are from mechanical issues, not offroading. I could be wrong.

I seem to remember a discussion about the 2 different deuce factory axles and one style being slightly preferred, but I can't find it now. I know gringeltaube was involved in the discussion.

Here and here are pics of actually three axle shaft-styles that came factory-installed in our M44 trucks, over all these years.
If there is one member here who knows them all... and can tell which one is the strongest, that would be Steve6x6x6, for sure! I think, the CON-VEL's (AKA "Rezeppa"-joints) are...?

Warn did make a run of 2 1/1 and 5 ton hubs for Bab Chandler dating back to the early eightys. Finding any of these would be like finding bigfoot at Starbucks.

No AVM is made in Brazil Ouverson USA AVM hubs are substandard in quality and have P**s poor customer service. Suport US jobs and buy the Ouverson hubs ,read gringeltaubes writeup on the Ouverson hubs vs AVM.
