Guys my Schutt trailer has a 3banger Perkins GH-403D-07
engine that runs a hydraulic pump. It is like new but it has sat
for maybe 4-5 years. One issue is the Fuel Solenoid seems
to be bad. I pulled the solenoid and hit it w/ 12V and it does nothing.
1- Am I correct that the Solenoid rod should RETRACT when energized?
2- If it retracts does the rod simply slide in and out of something
inside the pump or does the rod push something "in" when you
kill the motor and allow something to slide "out" when you
turn it on? I am trying to determine if something is stuck or
slightly corroded inside this pump.
Here is a pic of the Solenoid and
the best pic I can get of inside the solenoid hole.
Should things slide back and forth in there moved by the Solenoid rod?
Should I WD40 inside this hole or
Does this get engine oil flooding inside there when the engine runs?
If I pull the injectors 3 tube and unscrew the main pump
bolts will a million parts fall out or is it ok to pull this
housing and look inside for issues?
I do have fuel all the way up to the pump, after that no fuel,
that is why I looked at and ordered a new Solenoid.
The engine has not fired yet except w/ a quick squirt of ether.
Batteries are replaced and new.
Starter is completely rebuilt and as-new.
I have fuel to the Element filter and I used it's purge bolt too.
I have fuel after the filter to the return line.***
I have fuel to the pump inlet. ***
***I actually pumped fuel into a glass jar from both lines A-OK
There are no TM's in existence anywhere, confirmed less a $75.00 book
from perkins, sigh...
