Good project you have in mind. The two schools of thought are, (1) drive the camper and tow the gear. (2) drive with the gear and tow the camper. One big advantage of number 2 is when camp has been set up, you still have the truck to use, and won't have to depend on a motorcycle. Both plans work well, just fit them to your needs. P.S. Did you pick up your Deuce Trailer off KLS not long ago. I love those things! Unclemikey.

Thanks Unclemikey.Yes I picked up the trailer on KSL in June or July last summer.It was down in Provo UT.It was a fun trip My buddy that went with me thought I was when we brought it via Butterfield/Middle canyon.The switch backs were fun with no brakes.Check out the pics on my profile.

The premise is wonderful albeit expensive. Also originally approximately five hundred u.s. I believe was mentioned? THAT ain't happening excepting blind luck, extreme salvaging could, hehe.
All the ideas I've seen since catching this today are cool but I personally want all eggs in one basket with option of dropping trailer if necessary. I've opted to use steel roofing going up the sides and over bows gluing one inch polystyrene and gluing another sheet over that.Will be semi- permanent. Ends enclosed in similar manner. The 17 pieces @ 12' 3" of siding cost me 100.00 on sale alone. Glad to see all of us who are afraid of "those" people seem to think alike on a lot of these building ideas!

Filled the seams on one side of the truck. Bought some calking made for filling split wood decking. After its dried it can be sanded.

I also installed the fresh water tank, Water pump, Toilet and ran about one half of the fresh water plumbing.

Finished plumbing water heater bypass and installed out door shower. Fired up the pump and watched the water flow. It flowed right onto the ground, still need to plumb in the drains and valves for grey and black water tanks. That will have to wait for dryer weather.

Framed in one side of the dining table seat. Installed the 12 volt power supply / battery charger. Finished the propane plumbing and tested the water heater, stove and refrigerator. The heater needs 12 volt power and I am not that far along yet. last time I tried to light the heater I caught myself on fire.

Tore out the old upper cabinet. The joist were pulled from the outside wall. Put a ledger under them. It will be hid inside the cabinet.


Also built the other dinette seat and wall behind it. The space behind wall will be for large storage like folding chairs, camp stove and such.

Took apart the heater and cleaned the pilot light orifice. It was plugged with rust. Still can't get it to light.

Tore out a cabinet and extended the kitchen counter space.

I have some hardwood butcher block flooring that came out of a service van.

I will use it for the counter top. Insulated the wall, pulled in 110 wiring and installed furring strips.


I should add that God has provided an abundance of free material for this project. From the holding tanks to the rooftop air he has provided it.

I had run out of 1 x stock and it stopped my progress as I had no furring material. That same day as I drove past the busnisse next door there was a stack of 10' long 5' wide palates with ten 10' 1"x4"s on then. The sign said free so I grabbed two of them.

Today I put up the Tempered hardboard on the wall over kitchen counter.

I then installed the upper cabinets. I am building them out of scrap plywood. They will be covered with tempered hardboard and painted.

Been plugging along. Wrapped the cabinets with Tempered hardboard. Installed the range hood and put on the first coat of paint. Found a color that gives the same feel as Sea Foam Green.

Next I insulated the ceiling and put up a couple sheets of hardboard and primed them.

I took some old pallet sleepers and ran them over the Jointer to square two sides. Then ripped them into 2x2" for the bathroom ceiling joist. After installing them I cut in the roof vent and put up the hardboard. This time I primed before I filled the staple holes as I kept missing some until the paint reveled them. Then I climbed on the roof and screwed down the vent.

My wife was not able to get the time off this year. It would have been hard to finish the truck in time anyway.
