M923a2 with a suspension problem

My buddy just received his M923a2 yesterday. On the passenger side, center axle, the track bar was dangling. The end cap which holds the track bar on was missing.

Any easy way to fix this?

There is no "end cap". The rubber bond to the steel sleeve has failed.



By "easy", do you mean correctly or cob job?

You need to remove it and use a press to do it correctly.

You need a welder and piece of steel to cob it together.

Either is not all that difficult.

Yes we have done this job. Not that hard especially on the lowers.

Doghead the cob job we did on my upper dogbone is still working. The joint is nice and tight and have had no problems with it.

Or buy a new torque rod with the inserts, remove that one. It's not a real fun job, but follow the TM's makes it much easier. I replaced all the torque rods on my M35A3 with NOS when one failed, quite a job. I couldn't get a couple out till I consulted the TM, I had missed pounding on the bottom of the mount with a sledge hammer. That made it easier for the ones you can't pound out directly.

Where are you in CA? I just happen to have one NOS 5-ton torque rod end sitting in my garage if your buddy is in a pinch. PM me if interested.

I did all mine on the M818. A lot of work, but do-able. The top inner nuts on the trunnion frame are a PITA. I found a performance shop in Gardena that did the pressing for me.
