B-17 Event Sponsored by the Wings Over the Rockies Air Museum

Over this weekend the Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum is sponsoring the B-17 "Aluminum Overcast" for display and flights at Centennial Airport just SE of Denver. The Huey Vietnam Pilots traveling museum is also here. I have the M936A2 wrecker on display for the weekend along with some other very valuable rigs from members of the MVCC. Here are some pics. Beautiful, simply beautiful B-17. She is parked, taxiing in and turning around RIGHT in front of me for flights. Nothing like the smell and sound of four big radials!!

Those are some nice planes and trucks! What kind of truck is the cab over with the 5ton bed?

It is a all wheel drive Peterbilt that was a power company's off road bucket truck. The bucket bed was replaced with a 5 ton cargo bed and with a little OD paint you have a great MV hauler with all the road speed you want. The truck has true lockers in each differential. Not a bad looking rig.

Got to go thru a B-17 a few years ago , no flight. What a beautiful piece of history .I always regret I couldn`t take a ride.

There are plenty of opportunities for a ride in Aluminum Overcast. It belongs to the Experimental Aricraft Association (EAA) and tours regularly.
