4th of July fun on the beach

Hey guys, haven't posted here much yet. Mostly I've been lurking around reading. I've had my Deuce now for about 2 months. I've been doing some light restoration and catching up on a good bit of PM.

We had some fun with the Deuce and took it out on the beach over the 4th. I was impressed with how well it did. We went out to Fort Fisher State Park. I have a season pass there and take my Land Rover there frequently. But this was the first time I had the Deuce out on the beach. I was a little leery. I read through several threads here about taking it out in the soft sand with the stock tires. Some said you will be fine, some said they would never do it. So I figured there was only one way to find out. I aired the front down to 15psi. I started airing down the rear and got lazy and just did the four outer tires. I aired them down to 15 psi and left the inners at 50. I engaged the front and put it in low range and it did great. Drove all around the beach and not once did it give me the impression that it might get stuck. We had a great day out there. The surf was still pretty rough as Hurricane Arthur passed through 2 days prior. Met a lot of great people. Several veterans and active duty folks came up and talked with us. Told us how much they loved/missed these trucks, and told us about their experiences with them in the military. Really neat experience just talking with them. Here are a couple pics from the day weekend. I think we'll be taking it out there fairly regularly now that it proved capable.

You should take it over and get a picture in front of THE ship. ;-)

Wash it down good. You don't have to get wet to get salt on it.
I second that. I have spent a lot of time over on Cape Lookout National Seashore. Everything rusts. Then again you do have a season pass there at Fort Fisher so I'm sure you are familiar with it.
