The MVCC is planning a Military Vehicle Rally this summer for the weekend of July 25-27th. This time around we're going to do a camp out. We are going to be using the Rampart Reservoir Campgrounds:
Thunder Ridge Campground:
http://www.reserveamerica.com/campi...oundDetails.do?contractCode=NRSO&parkId=70050
Meadow Ridge Campground:
http://www.reserveamerica.com/campi...oundDetails.do?contractCode=NRSO&parkId=70047

Couple of notes about the facilities:
- Non-motorized water vehicles only @ Rampart (I'll be bringing some canoes). I've also checked the nearby reservoirs and they are all closed or non-motorized only as well.
- These two campgrounds are about 1000' apart and that same distance from the reservoir.

For either option the MVCC will provide meals for Club Members for the weekend. Non-Member meal price to be determined.

We need to get our reservations in ASAP to lockup the campgrounds as much as possible. There are still slots available so we will continue accepting signups. There will be a $10 deposit per slot (to be paid at the next meeting, etc) and the cost will be $20 per day per slot (min. 3 days) Early arrival and/or late departures can be setup as needed/requested.

To reserve a spot(s) for the 2014 Rocky Mountain Military Vehicle Rally please send an email to Brendan (deuce@brendansrealm.com). Please let me know number of slots, vehicle size and dates for your reservation, as well as a count of how many folks (for meal planning).

If you have any questions or suggestions please let me know.

Thanks,

Brendan

Jon,
Your rally sounds interesting, but that's the weekend before my son's wedding and my truck isn't really ready. I've been unable to get it inspected because until Thursday id didn’t run.

My wife’s in the hospital with a serious leg infection and I’m not sure how much she will be able to out-and-about this summer.

Hope you guys and gals all have a good time.

Well, better late than never, we have a final date and place for the 2014 Rocky Mountain MV Rally.

The Military Vehicle Collectors of Colorado will be hosting the 2014 Rocky Mountain MV Rally the weekend of July 25th-27th. The rally will be located at Wilderness on Wheels which is located 4 miles east of Kenosha Pass on Highway 285 (C-470 to Wilderness on Wheels Campground).

The rally location provides us with a service opportunity. Wilderness on Wheels is an organization that has built a campground that allows people who are confined to wheel chairs or have other disabilities the chance to go camping and explore the wilderness like the rest of us. They do activities and campouts for wounded military vets as well as anyone else who has limited mobility. They are a mostly volunteer supported facility, including the maintenance and upkeep of their grounds, paths and ramps. We plan to participate in some work around the campground on Saturday. Mostly minor repair work such as nailing or screwing down loose ramp boards, securing handrails, some light painting, etc.

Other than that the plan is to hang out, enjoy the company, the OD iron and the cool weather. The MVCC will have our MKT set up and will provide meals for attendees.

Meals and campground costs are covered for MVCC members. Campground costs will also be covered for Non-members who bring OD Iron, but meals from the MKT will require $30/person (did I mention that 2014 membership fee for the MVCC is $30?).

If you have any questions, suggestions, etc, please let me know.

If you are interested in attending please let me know ASAP as we are beginning meal planning and will need to know how many folks are going in order to get the food.

Thanks,
Brendan Johnson
MVCC Vice President

I would like to be included in your plans and I would be bringing my M923A1, on which I just finished replacing the transmission.

I also have an MKT-85 which is complete and in near-new condition, except for burners. You can ask Jon (Steelandcanvas) about it; he helped me set it on its butt once when I didn’t put down the legs. I actually have several working M-1 burners, but they are generally considered unsafe. Until I solve that problem, I was considering pulling out the 2 field ranges and putting in a propane-powered BBQ or a 2 burner stove I have. I would be glad to drag it up there, if it would be useful.

The only thing that might prevent my attending is my son’s wedding on Aug. 3. I don’t know what the schedule for their festivities is, as yet.

Come on up KaiserM109! Go ahead and leave your MKT at home, but thank you very much for the offer. We have the Club's MKT with the Diesel Burners. We need to just get her out and play with her occasionally. Send Brendan an email and we'll get you on the list.

My wife cleared the date and even got me an appointment to get the VIN verified and the emissions tested on the truck! That means I'll have tags by the 25th! I haven't been able to do that because my truck got towed the last 16 miles of its recovery.

She did groan, however (putting it mildly) when I mentioned putting a plate on the MKT, so I'll leave it behind. I will, however, have some serious cargo capacity, so if you need any equipment hauled or even a trailer towed, let me know. There will probably be room for a couple of passengers, too. I will be starting out on the north side of Denver. I'll PM Brendan.

PS Hearing protection for truck passengers will be provided, though the 923 isn't as bad as my deuce.

I won't be able to make it; GL screwed me up. After getting the transmission in, I took it for VIN and emissions inspection. GL screwed up the VIN number on the SF-97. it's going to take another 30 days to get it titled and registered.

I'd like to report that the 1st MVCC's Rally was a complete success! We got a lot of projects done for Wilderness on Wheels folks, and enjoyed being in the fresh air, while being amongst the pines. The MVCC Ladies and the MKT provided some very tasty meals for about 20 people. We repaired their boardwalks and tent platforms, cleaned the cabins and even did a little plumbing. Wilderness on Wheels is a non-profit campground catering to mobility impaired.
