Anybody have STRANGE stuff comeup

A while ago I was on a page, hit the back button, INSTEAD of going back a WARNING notice came up (looked just like a IE warning) stating that my computer might be infected and that I needed to call the admin. along with a 866 xxx xxxx number to call, you could not exit out unless the number was called, I did not call, my wife worked around that issue. This had to come though SS because it was the only thing open.

I have already reported this to the powers to be, has anybody else gotten strange messages like this ????

I have since done a virus scan, other then a few cookies, nothing,

Sounds like malware. Some virus scans won't find it and it will embed itself in your registry. Sometimes you can go to msconfig and disable it from loading on boot up. A good anti malware software like malware bytes should find it. Sometimes it's very hard to remove.

But just as a safety measure, I just did a file check to the core files for vBulletin. (The forum software) I did not find anything during this check.

What was the number listed? I bet if we googled that number, we'd find more about it.

Also did a check on your most recent IP address in the security software, no blocks on it. That can cause a 503 screen if you keep on doing something wrong, but it'd give you a warning at first that you hit a bad link or did something wrong and you should contact the admin. However there would not be any phone number listed on it.

Sounds like spyware/malware on your PC. Virus scan likely will not catch it. Try spybot, adaware, and malware bytes. Make sure to download them all, update them, and scan against your PC. No single AV/Anti spyware or malware software will catch everything.

I reported it with "contract us" at the bottom of the page,

I reported as I left a voice mail on your phone when I did not get a answer,

I reported it when I called Mr. DH and told him what happened just incase the SITE had picked up a bug.

If I missed somewhere else to report the strangeness, it must have sliped my mind, (it used to be like a trap now it is like a sieve)

I posted this thread just incase there was something to worry about, better safe then sorry.

Had it happen to me also using the search couldn't get it off the screen had to shut the computer down.

Earlier I was editing one of my posts and got a message that I needed to upgrade media player software. I didn't get screen shot. Win7 Pro, Google Chrome and Malwarebytes running in the background.

I could not close it. Had to use task manager to shut it down.

I'd like to add that I had some strange behaviour occur today as well. I'm a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.9.4 and Firefox with silverlight and flash disabled, java and all other plugins/addons on ask-to-activate. While browsing the dual fuel feed thread, when I hit one of the other page buttons, I got a full page popup telling me I needed to scan my Mac. I closed that, and for a bit afterwards if I hit any link on the SteelSoldiers site, I got another popup similar to the first, ended up being maybe half a dozen or so total before they stopped. I closed them as fast as they opened, didn't occur to me to get a screencapture. If it happens again I will definitely cap it and get the URL if I can.

Closed firefox, reopened, reloaded SteelSoldiers, and haven't had a problem since. I'll update if anything else happens.

I'm going to turn off the google ads for now and see if that changes anything. I might have to turn off the search too if that's the case.

I've started getting the media player upgrade one as well. Really annoying.
