WTB & questions: Tow bar, light cable, air lines, etc for flat towing 5 ton w/ 5 ton

I'm looking for everything needed to recover a 5 ton with my 5 ton. Here's what I think I need. Please feel free to let me know if I'm wrong!

1.) Medium tow bar (Do I need the feet?)

2.) Safety chains

3.) Cable so the lights will work between the trucks. I can't find the plug on the front of my truck, is there one that I'm missing? I looked at the TM's, but I can't seem to find it.

4.) 2 air lines with glad hands. Should I just buy 2 lines and add the glad hands from a truck/trailer store, or are there better solutions?

5.) Do I need to buy a NATO jumper cable, or can I use my heavy duty fire truck 30' jumper cables? If I can use my jumper cables, where do I attached the +/- connections? Anyone have pics?

Thanks!

Bill

Big truck supply places and most truck stops will have the air lines with gladhands on both ends I recommend a set one red, one blue of the coiled type. Also remember that the lines always cross driverside to passengers side and vise versa.
You will need a set of lights to mount on the rear, Trailboss has a set of led Blazer brand that got from Walmart that are marked 12v but are working on 24v after many hundreds of miles.

I made a cable to use the lights on the towed vehicle but you have to disconnect the turn signal lever or bad things will happen.

I made mine to be 50 feet. I also found if you disconnected the actual light three lever box it works a little better and your not providing power to the batteries on the towed vehicle.

You do not need to disconnect the three lever, just make sure it if in the off position,

I found with it in the off position it still feeds to the batteries, disconnecting it also removes the front lights out of the system, and disconnects from the batteries. Trying to charge a 24v system with a 12-16 gauge wire is a very bad idea.

Thanks, that helps. I don't have that on the front of my M923A2 like everyone has pointed out. So the recovered truck won't have it either and I won't worry about trying to put one of these on.

Very cool, thank you! So I'll just buy a military style plug and wire it? Anyone have instructions for that or where to buy the plug?

OK, thanks. Don't worry Ron---you can instruct in person.... I may have three trucks to recover from a private seller up north so you can come along. He has health problems and wants them gone. We're negotiating price right now and I have 3 buddies who want them... so the Georgia Mafia may be growing.

it can't because with the switch OFF, there is NO connection to the power supply, the front and rear lights are two separate circuits connect by the switch, as long as the switch is off there is no connection, I have plugged in a lead from one truck trailer plug to another truck trailer plug, NO head lights or anything on the front lit up, only the rear lit up and worked just like tow lights.

I'm only speaking from experience.

See post #18. I've put a couple of thousand miles miles on the Blazer lights, and they're working great. I think they're around $50 at Walmart and Tractor Supply. I can use them with my F250 or 24v MV.
