M116A3 behind a Jeep Wrangler

Well, today I pulled our M116a3 flatbed trailer to DMV and back, 52 miles. I averaged 18.2 mpg with our 2014 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon.
That is almost what I get empty. So pulling a M116 is no strain.

Opps,, typo it is a M116a3 trailer. It will work great for holding fishing gear, gas, water, food, in containers that I will strap down with ratchet type straps while exploring ghost towns and old mines out in the desert, and going to lakes up in the mountains. Plenty of road clearance. 18.2 mpg was done at 60 mph at around 2000 rpm with cruise control on. 3.73 gears, stock tires, stock height, etc.

When towing a trailer in CA, 55 mph is the maximum legal speed.

You might be right Ken.
Being serious, out here if you do 55 mph, on the freeway, you will get run over. We are 152 miles above Sacramento, where the traffic is a lot lighter, and most big rigs run 60-65 mph on the Freeway.

Stay in Southern California and keep it at 55 mph and you will be just fine. Come up here and go 55 mph and you better put chains on your doors, because trucks going by will blow them off.

Our m116a3 is a flatbed. I don't think a matching color would look good on it, so I am having it painted gloss black. If it had sides like our picture, then yes, it would like nice. I think your friends matching paint scheme looks great. We do have a M1101 which has sides, but it is a 2011 in perfect condition, so I think I will leave it camo for now. Also the M1101 is 1460 lbs. empty. Even though we have the 285 hp engine in our 2014 Jeep Rubicon, I think the fuel economy would suffer with the weight and aerodynamics.
We have a 2012 Ford F250 with the 400 hp 800 ft. lbs. torque diesel engine, that will pull our M1101 and not know it is there. When the paint job on the M1101 gets weathered, then I could have it painted to match our F250.
