Has anybody else been hearing rumors that the ban on auctioning HMMWVs to the general public is about to be lifted? I have been told that unarmored surplus HMMWVs will be released to public auction in the very near future, but they will be sold as off-road use only and no SF-97 will be issued with them.

There have been rumors of HMMWV sales and changes since the HMMWV hit military service.

Unless you hear it in writing from the DLA, it ain't gonna happen.

I don't think it is unreasonable to think they will be going to auction whole...given how many of them were produced and now need to be taken out of service. It would be unreasonable to think I could afford one. I got the information from a DRMO/DLA officer as we looked over dozens of them sitting on his lot. He said they were just waiting for the final okay to release them for auction.

Well, we can hope. Not getting my "hopes" high, but then again, stranger things have happened. Be sure to let "us" know when you get concrete evidence!

God bless,
Tony

I was under the impression that the DOD was looking for a responsible party to
take possession of a LOT of these trucks and make them DOT approved and
then they would be OK for sale. Perhaps this happened. . . But what do I know... :)

SETOYOTA,

FWIW...

If there were a way to look at every post I ever posted here you will see where
I linked to a DOD? website where the DOD? was looking to get rid of over 100 HUMVEE
type trucks to ONE Contractor whom would make said DOT legal. They were specific
in saying that a onezee towzee contractor NEED NOT APPLY. This is not a
guess or a wish, I SAW IT. I am not going to look it up for you, have at it my friend.
Spend enough time you will find it, unless it was deleted. I doubt it though...

It was public info...

But why do you want this thread closed?
