m1008 brakes

how do I adjust the brakes on my m1008 so it gets more from the front, less from the back. Now when I stop at every red light, my back wheels are locking up and I get angry looks from the guy in front of me who thinks I am hot rodding.

It sounds like the rear proportioning valve is the issue

Start with disassembling them and inspecting them.

Locking up is one of the signs of oil contamination from bad seals.

A simple look(no disassembly needed) at the backing plates may tell you something, are they wet or dry?

Mine did that for a few trips. I used a can of brakekleen and
emery cloth on the shoes and drums. One had gear oil on it.
I might have gotten lucky, shes stops real nice

sorry, I am a beginner. If the backing plate is wet (with brake fluid?), then I have problems with the seals? These seals are in the brake drum itself?

The hubs have seals to keep the oil in them.

When the seals leak, the brake shoes get oil on them. This will cause the grabbing brakes you described.

A look at the -20 parts TM should help you understand/see the way this is assembled.

Repair should be in the -20 level TM.
