My actual speed

As I mentioned I another thread, I would admit if I was wrong about my truck running 60mph with only 11.00r20s and no other mods. Well, after Welldigger and I took a test run monitoring speed with his GPS it turns out I was in fact wrong. At 2300rpm, which is where I though I was running 60, I am only running 55. I can however still run 62mph on the governor. I do not run my truck on the governor, but we did for a minute just to see my maximum attainable speed.

Maybe PJ will post his actual speed here too(in a few weeks).

I'd just like to hear what modifications he made.(no video needed)

They can boogie pretty good when running just right. On my epic Tennessee recovery I found myself up against the (readjusted) governor a few times running 66 while towing an M1009. I had to really watch that truck when driving it.

Actually we hit 63 on that slight down hill when you pegged it to the governor. :naner:

On a related note that speedo gear adapter would clock pretty darn close on my truck. Interested in selling it?

I posted this in red's deuce/camper project thread last August:

I took my truck for a 150-mile trip last weekend. With the 395's on it, I was able to cruise at 60 mph while running at 2200-2300 rpm. I used my GPS for a speedometer.
If memory serves me, I was very comfortable at 58 mph as measured by GPS.

That's exactly where my truck likes to run at about 2300 rpm on 395s. I haven't pegged it to the governor yet to see what my absolute top end is yet. My transmission or transfer case sounds like one or the other is getting ready to grenade on me. Yay!

Getting those rpm's down is why I'm looking for a second transmission, summer upgrade

A spare to turn into an auxiliary transmission. Would provide a .6 overdrive to net lower rpm's for better fuel economy, and a great low range for offroad. I'll go more in depth in my project thread.

Yeah what I didn't mention here is that I installed a speedo adapter from an 809 series truck which makes my speedo show 60 mph when I'm actually running 55. No, I don't really want to sell it.

Hi Digger and Sinker!
I recently found that my speedometer consistently reads 2mph below what my GPS says I'm doing with 11R-20s in 5th gear. My bobber has stock gearing and does 52 mph (GPS) at 2300 rpm. That's the hardest I care to drive it. My dream is an LDS liner kit, injection pump and injectors with the super overdrive 5th conversion. With the LDS upgrade you should be able to pull the taller gear without any trouble. Of course I'm also currently obsessing about a winch. Maybe I will only drive downhill from now on. Hope you guys are well.

68mph, 5th gear in mine at 2650rpm. On 395's of course. In my deuce.

The SEMTT can do 72mph at 2350rpm. All GPS verified on a closed course by a professional driver....

Hey there dip. Hope you have been well. That bobber of yours would look good with a winch! If my trans is what's taking a dump on me I just might put tom's overdrive kit in and see how scary things get at 70+ mph.
