M925 transmission

I just purchased a m925 with almost no oil leaks. On the 185 mile trip home I noticed oil on the rear tailgate and under carrage. Seems to be more to the drivers side. Both the oil and transmission are full. It also seemed to lose power in 1st gear and will no longer shift into 5th gear. And the leak has almost stopped. Any ideas? Thank you.

Where does the wetness start under the truck? Behind the transmission? Behind the Transfer case? What does the fluid smell like? Stinky like gear oil?

Have you double checked the fluid levels in all the gear boxes since the issue? IE diffs, transfercase, Transmission?

Did you check any of the wheel hubs for heat during the drive? Any thermo checks on anything?

I did check all the hubs they were all the same temepture. The oil did not smell like gear oil. It seems to start at the back side of the motor more towards the driver side

Which motor? 250 or 6cta

If the 250 look around the oil filter canister...Just a thought

Check around the filter its dry.

Check the PTO hoses going forward? If all the items are still full it makes it a bit harder so break out the engine degreaser and get it cleaned up/dried up and watch again closely as maybe it leaked because something was overfilled?

Check the Power Steering pump/hoses ?

Clean it all up w/ a pressure washer then take it out for a SHORT
drive and climb under there looking for the beginnings of leakage.
If you see nothing drive some more and recheck. If it totally quits
maybe it was too full to begin with.

Oil on a tailgate is almost always a pinion seal, at least in my experience.

Your loss of power could be fuel filters. Loss of pull in 1st and not enough omph to reach 5th. Replace fuel filters, blow out air filter with compressed air, and try again.

Check intermediate and rear axle fluid levels, and do it soon.

you can lightly dust suspected leak areas with spray deodorant then power up or do a short drive...the white powder will instantly show any fluid movement and will clean off easily afterwards

Engine road draft tube. Mine puts out smoke sometimes. It is at the rear of engine drivers. side. axle pinion seal leaks will also put out oil onto back of the truck, that happened to me too with my first one.

Strong enough for a man, but made for a woman. Also helpful if your ride is smelly.
