A Visit to the Wright Museum

Hey Fellas!
Well if you're in the New England area right now you are probably like me, counting down the days until spring (unless you are one of those people who skis or something!). I'm hoping today to give us another reason to look forward to warmer days, an SS Convoy to the Wright Museum in Wolfeboro NH!

The Wright Museum is an amazing place, it is dedicated to educating the public about the home front and battle front life of WW2. Along with boasting a massive collection of memorabilia it also has an extensive collection of amazingly restored Second World War MVs. Although I'm not sure how many the museum owns, I know they have half tracks, armored cars, Willys Jeeps, motorcycles, staff cars, a couple Stuarts, I think a Sherman and the only surviving example of the M26 Pershing Tank from the Battle of Remagen in 1945. They also have weapons, uniforms, artillery, a Norden Bombsight and a reconnaissance airplane suspended from the ceiling of the main display area.

This being the 70th anniversary of the end of the war II thought it would be a great idea to get some members together some time this spring or summer and convoy up to the Museum in our own MV's. I have already talked to a member of the museum board and purposed this idea, I put special emphasis on getting a glimpse at their MV collection. The response was better than I expected, they would be glad to have us and a group of 15 or more people gets a discounted admission fee. Furthermore, they are going to make sure the person responsible for vehicles will be their as well to give us an extended look at the display MVs and the restoration area!!

I have been to the museum twice and have attached pictures from my previous visits but had never able to talk to anyone in depth about the MV collection since the whole place is set up as a self guided tour. I think this would be a great opportunity to see these amazing machines up-close and personal and talk to the people responsible for keeping them alive.

My thoughts were to have a convoy that could rally in a spot that is centrally located to where everyone is coming from. I had initially thought Portsmouth NH would be great for anyone coming from MA or ME (obviously if you are further North we can just meet up with you somewhere) but that is yet to be decided. The convoy would then head North to Lake Winnipesaukee where we would have breakfast or an early lunch and display our vehicles somewhere. This would be a day half-dedicated to taking a trip around the beautiful lakes region of NH and half visiting this wonderful museum.

I would like to know how many of you would be interested in doing something like this. Obviously if you don't own an MV or would rather not bring it that would be fine. I would also like to encourage everyone to bring their families and if anybody knows some WW2 vets who have never been to the Museum I INSIST you extend an invitation to them as well!

If you have been the Museum or are affiliated with them please post any additional information to this thread!

So lets get the ball rolling on this thing, how many of you guys are on board?

Getting close to the opening date of the museum and still very little interest, I'll bump this one more time to see if anyone else wants to go. I would like to get onto their tour calendar asap.

Selling is a bad word to a museum in Europe. We trade. If we sell we are making a profit from something that was donated. I love trading to museums all over Europe.
