Picked up a set of hemtt wheels and 1600 michelins for the 916, but have a few questions before I can get the tires / wheels mounted up.

1) What are the correct valve stems to run? Looks like there are two styles of hemtt valve stems. An old one with two valve cores, and a newer one with a single. Are they both easy to check pressure / fill up when flipped in the rear? Anyone have a good source for those?

2) Need to get some longer wheel studs in the front, but have had no luck at the local truck shops. Its way bigger than anything they have in catalogs. Can anyone give me a part number, or source?

3) This interference seems pretty wonky... What have guys been doing?

All I can come up with for part numbers -

All are Oshkosh part numbers. These are what are in the 916A1 and 916A2.

Right 2HE210 & 1693320 (NSN 5307-01-327-3464)
Left 2HE211 & 1693330 (NSN 5307-01-327-3463)

The -24P TM also notes that "FOR REPLACEMENT SEE MAC FGC 1311"

I can't find any cross references to any other part number.

Thanks guys. Going to take some measurements tomorrow. Leaning towards spacers in the rear and possibly the aluminum budd nuts in front to get extra thread engagement with the standard length studs. Will snap some pics.

The front studs are plenty long enough to run the HEMTT wheels, but you have to grind/turn down the lip on the front brake drums for the wheels to fit properly. If you have not done that then that's why the front studs seem to short....your wheel is not seated all the way.

After tracking down all the parts, decided not to go with the 16's on hemtt wheels after all...

The track width is pretty far off, the front being over 104'' wide (illegal) and way outside the fenders.

The rears would need spacers to be made, and then the use of special lug nuts. Even so, the track width is still not the same as the front.

Max legal road weight for the rear axles is 34K. A 5 ton combat rim is rated for 9K. The Michelin 14.00r20 is rated for 11k. I'm fine with whatever safety factor is built into those numbers. Don't plan on ever needing to pull an overweight permit. Know a few guys running 4k gal. water tanks on 5 tons that occasionally have a wheel issue off road. Hear the studs that hold the wheels halves together break. When this thing is near 80k its mostly going to be freeways.

The other benefit is that the combat wheel bolts right up, no modifications, and the backspacing is nearly perfect since the A0 5 tons were duallies.

Only thing I don't like about the combat vs hemtt wheels is a max air pressure of only 85psi.

Might decide to run hemtt wheels in the future, but would pull the hubs off to have the wheel mounting surface machined to narrow the track width.
