Hi. USAF '86 M35A2C acquired last fall. Knew very little of MV's before other than looked cool and I thought it would be a fun toy...err tool to put to use on my wood lot. A bit big and heavy and exhausting to drive off road...well on road too for that matter. But I am still getting a kick out of it, and useful too. So far have hauled 4 tons of wood pellets, 6 tons of patio blocks, 5 cords of fire wood, and 2 full trips to scrap yard with misc. "lawn ornaments". Unfortunately price of scrap is down and I am regretting some of my melt downs, can picture some unique mailbox holder or funky garden bed. My Mrs. is happy though, and that keeps the dinner table full of good stuff! Learned of this forum from a Military Rally last weekend here in NH. This is my 1st home computer in many years. Also first on-line forum. Been away from computers in general for a few years. Spending some time this week re-familiarizing myself with them, so much to search so little time!! Posting here to look for feedback on site etiquette, search tips, any other useful info on posting, searching. Also does anyone know why I get logged out of SS site while I am composing msgs? Am I just to long winded? Is it my browser? Not a supper big deal, just annoying cuz I have to sign back and I lose all text when I do. So have been copying and pasting to avoid re-typing. -Thnx

The system has a timer for inactivity. When you log in check the "Remember me" box under the login area.

Welcome to the site. There is a LOT of good info here.

Welcome from Colorado. The Air Force Deuces are great. Lots of nice features.
Thanks for welcome. Yea I feel like I got a pretty good deal. Of course don't really have any experience to judge by, but I was able to find a drivable, workable truck in my price range. Know I paid a bit more since it was private sale, but it had everything I was looking for. Drop sides, hard top, and looks well maintained. Apparently just retired 2yrs ago from hoist training facility in Chicopee, Ma after leaving Dobbins AF base in 2010. Nothing more than surface rust, engine oil golden yellow, fresh grease on all zerks and other evidence that made it appear is was regularly maintained. Time will tell, but I hope I got a good clean one.

Welcome from ~20 miles to your East.

Glad you made it to Weare this year, it was a great rally. There's also an indoor flea market hosted by the same club (mvmvc.org) in March each year at the Milford Armory, which is a nice little drive from Keene.

Enjoy all the information on this site - there's plenty of great information here, in addition to the extensive library of deuce TMs you can download.

Ok think I found the registry forum, still getting used to searching this site. Killing a lot more time this AM than planned, but have day off so guess I am in no rush to bake in humidity we have here today. On my truck there is still the shadow of a fender decal that says "86K1132" is this what the registry wants to know? Anyway can dig out paper work and copy dash plate info later to post on that thread.
Also general question: How does the "subscribe feature work"? I have tested the button out thinking it would create an easy to search page for all my specific interests I want to follow, read more on ect., but I seem to only get reverted back to the "command post" or I just use the little search window in upper right corner of pages. This site is so huge any tips on setting up prefances would be appreciated.

86K1132 is the registration, the data plate will have a "C xxx xxxxx" number, that is the serial number. Combine both numbers for the VIN #, if you need to title it. I have an 86 USAF deuce.

Had it titled in my name when I bought....Was going to register it with regular plates since I didn't know how much I would use the truck or for what exactly, besides personal firewood. However the town clerk convinced me to register it as an antique to save money which is fine because as it turns out I am only using the truck a few times a month at most and I don't plan to use the truck commercially, however I didn't realize it got titled as an antique also. Does this mean I will never be able to register it with regular plates? Is this title some how different than others? Hope this doesn't limit me in the future some how?? Also in my inexperience, and hers apparently, it got registered with it's GVW as 13K which she got from it's shipped weight from the original Bill of Laden from AM General Corp that I had with me when I registered it. So as I understand it now, I am technically not legal to haul anything that puts it over the registered GVW?? I am planning on playing dumb till 2017 when the 2yr antique reg. needs to be renewed unless someone here thinks I will get hassled and or fined when I move my firewood this fall?? I don't really want to become an expert in NHDOT laws, but I don't want my ignorance to get me hassled by some hard nosed trooper either.

You should be fine, as long as you're not hauling on a daily basis or using it for something that would be considered commercial. You have an antique truck hauling old (antique) wood. Now find a M105 trailer to complete the purchase, and you can real move some wood.

If you re-register with regular plates, you should be fine applying for regular title at that time.

YES!! I want the trailer too, but toy....errr "tool' funds are short right now. There is one for sale not far from me in Fitzwilliam, NH. It looks beat and he wants $1100 for it. Haven't even looked into them yet but this seemed a little steep to me. Not ready yet but was hoping on finding a serviceable one (not perfect just usable) for less than a $1000. Any thoughts on my success??

Your best bet is to keep using th site features, and gradually you will find ways of doing things and become familiar with it. Be good to see some pictures of your truck..(that will give you something to puzzle out). As said don't forget to click the remember me box or all your work typing will be lost in the ether, though sometimes clicking "back" (right click) restores the the text.

$1100 for a M105/ It better have all the side racks, cover, good tires, and a cooler full of beer in the back. There are alot of them floating around, Ive sold serveral complete units for $650, their auctions prices have gone up though.

Didn't have any of those things and I think the guy was drinking all the beer that was supposed to come with it, ha ha. Thanks for giving me an idea on price, that's encouraging. Hopefully the prices don't climb too much before I am actually ready to buy.
