Good pic. What is the purpose of the five machined out holes, where two are around that one center hole the gasket is built for? Any idea? Impossible to tell if there are any additional holes or port outlets inside them from the angle of the picture.

Memphis equipment has two gaskets for the compressor. I think it is the base and one for the side, not sure. I ordered two of what they had.

I was informed some pipe dope or lube will help seal the upper tube.

I am surprised that no one has yet to tell me to replace the lock washers. It says in the TM to replace lock washers in many other maintenance aspects such as on the axle shaft hubs.

I found three of the four bolds were lose. Lock washers were spent.

Anybody have updates as to if these single cylinder compressors can be rebuilt? Mine does not knock or anything but i am thinking about just honing the cylinder and putting new rings in it.

The older TM 8600 series for brake/air system has the rebuild information for the 2 cylinder model. You also can rebuild the single cylinder model. Right now you can buy brand new ones for $200.00 so it's not worth the effort to teardown and rebuild one. It will cost you almost the same for the rebuild parts.

I took one apart and I could still see some nice cross hatch lines. Fix something else that is not broke.

I am trying to find the cause of a blowby issue i seem to be chasing. I just rebuild my engine with new pistons, sleeves, rings and NOS heads. I cant for the life of me figure out where it is coming from. I am wondering if my rings are bad and I'm having blowby on the compressor.
