I sort of thought they looked like a big "mighty mite" don't mean to offend those who have the mighties just what came to mind when I saw one.

Actually, I kinda like the look of the XM705. It's definately an unusual ride. Did they ever get past the experimental stage and lose the "X" designation?

I know this is an old thread....but since someone brought it up I thought I'd put my $0.02 worth in. The XM705 was a Chevy design and was well weird. I actually sat in on and I'm not a small man at 6 foot tall and 250 lbs. When I sat in the truck the proportions were all wrong and I felt like I did when I was 5 or 6 siting in my dads car. Even the other people I was with who also sat in the truck said "gee daddy can I drive your truck when I grow up?" The sight lines and your field of vision where all weird. I can see where not only cost but if GI feed back was used in picking a winner I'd have to think that the XM705 was given thumbs down by the troops. Just my opinion on the matter.

Dont hate!!! When is the last time the military had something that was good looking? The cab was designed that way so soldiers could get in and out with a slung rifle and not worry about hitting it on the roof. (thats my guess). I do agree that it looks weird. But I dont care,,,it is RARE and can look as goofy as it wants.

Hands down that xm705 was more reliable and a better power plant than the infamous tornado six jeep had. only reason they went with the m715 was because they could buy 5 for the cost of 4 chevys. Thumbs upon the Chevy XM705 I missed one 5 years ago and wished I had gotten it. Nice truck Steve !

I'm having a hard time finding the right seal for the front output on the transfer case. Thought it would be easy cuz everything's General Motors. But I was wrong

Any good bearing shop should be able to get you one with the outer diameter and shaft size at least I have done that before..

Not hating...wish I had one myself. It's just funny....you feel like a little kid sitting in the truck. But it's all good!
