Still using the agricultural tires from Iowa DNR. they became a low priority with everything going on, and the delay in starting work. I do need new rims and tires, but just holding off for now.

I've been trying to figure out this tire issue for months now. I have decided to go 16". Going US owned on the tires leaves me with the Goodyear and Cooper. I can't decide between the Goodyear Wrangler Authority from Walmart and Cooper ATP or ST MAXX from Discount. The GYs are $832 out the door, the ATPs are $861 and ST MAXX are $925. This is 4 ea 265-75R16E.

Yeah, I'm planning on dropping down to 16" as well. I think I was looking at Wranglers. I may also look at something a tad more "Exotic" like Nittos or similar. I use Nitto Trail Grapplers on my truck

Truck is looking good. I see what you mean about the tires. Do you have plans to replace them?
Plan is get some 16" rims that look as similar as possible and a decent set of off roadish but street-able tires to go on the rims. Beyond that, no plan yet. spent what was going to be tire money on the Pioneer.

I would also like to add that big megameats like HMMWV tires are too much of a strain on the wheel bearings in the front Dana 44.

I personally would go no larger than 285/75r16s myself.

I have some new 305 70 16 Grabber AT's that I bought for my old Landcruiser but never fitted. I was considering obtaining some 16 inch rims and using them. Do you think this is a bad idea ?
If you think 16,5" tyres are unobtanium in the States you should try getting them here in the UK !!!! I have a pair of Dick Cepek 33x12.50x16.5 tyres I bought for my last M880 twenty years ago !!! I let my friend 'borrow' the other two. I never got them back....

I think that'd be a pretty good idea actually! Those are one of the styles I would be looking at honestly!

Been running 36" Humvee tires for over 8 years on this truck.

Been running 285/75-16's, plowin' & wood haulin' for years with this one.

I've had M880's around for over a dozen years & have never had a wheel bearing failure on the D44 fronts. or any other axle component failure.
Now I have broke a few parts on the front axle of this one with the 17" wide 40's .......

I went with 16" rims off a 3/4 ton dodge van, with 16" Firestone directional snow tires ( winter force ) P265/75-r16. They work great but I wish I would of went with a slightly shorter tire, That way I could of got my truck in the garage with out taking off my plow light.

That looks great man. I have a line on some 16" solid rims, hoping to have enough to do a total replacement. I don't have to worry about a garage right now... heck, my daily driver only makes it into my parents garage by a matter of an inch or two...

Just as a matter of curiosity, what model year 3/4 ton Dodge van did you use to source the 16 in rims? I'm running the oem 16.5 in rims on my M882 now, but 16 in rims might be easier to find tires for when the time comes.
