I agree that the 5ton forum should be split up. With the influx of m900 series 5tons it is making it more and more difficult to figure out what series of truck is being discussed.
I personally own a 65 kaiser m52a2. It seems that it used to be much easier to find the information i was seeking before the section got flooded with all of the newer iron.
Does that suggestion include your offer to go through 11,300+ threads one by one to sort them out? There is no automated process to achieve this, nor could there be. Also, one would have to be able to judge what would be "factory" and what would need to be in "hot-rodding". Spending around 2 minutes per thread to sort, would be 377 hours currently. Or 16 days non stop 24-7. Or if you thought of it as a 8-5 job with a hour lunch and breaks, 3 months of work.

Not trying to be rude about it, just trying to explain why it's all jumbled together. Then there's the fallout that comes from people not posting in the right area from that point on. Actually I need to trim the forums down and fold a few into each other.

My point exactly. So you know the headache involved with trying to decipher what vehicle is being discussed even after doing a search.
My vote would be to just open a new forum and let it fill itself. Maybe in the future when some has the time or a program that can sort it all out it can be dealt with.
Your response is a little disheartening, you make it sound like the 5ton forums have become like my garage after a long alaskan winter(full of bits and pieces of just about everything). I get it, it's overwhelming; but you got to start somewhere to declutter the mess.
Maybe start by making it a 5ton only section? I dunno, just trying to toss suggestions out there.

Splintering up things would only make more of a mess. And leave lots of good info "in the pile people don't search in" so to speak. It's certainly overwhelming, but I broke down the hard numbers to show the amount of work involved. I personally have to keep the lights on here, have a full time job (I work in healthcare) that is a tad demanding, then I have another small business I run as well. The only real way to achieve the suggestion is more help. The current staff is tasked with just moderating the day to day posts. That's why I asked if your suggestion included help.

Physically.. no.. i can't help. Im active duty. Have been since 93. Im actually deployed right now. I deploy alot, i have my hands full. But when I'm home i enjoy working on my old truck. I have been modifying and upgrading what i can. Its kinda like my decompression from 6 months gone 5 months back 6 months gone schedule.
It just get frustrating that the info i seek is burried so far down i rarely find it. I know its there, i just have to sort through sooo much stuff that doesn't even pertain to my vehicle to get to what i need.

But are they all 5tons??
I believe i said m900 series 5TONS.
As i am aware other classes of truck carried a 900 number(i.e., HMMWVs). I was only refering to the 5tons.

A little attention to detail goes a long way.

I wanted to thank Patracy for making one big change on here a while back. It was the new rule about not just saying " go use the search function" and " read the tech manual" but explain a bit of what to search for, or where to find it in the tech manual. It seems like it has led to a more inviting atmosphere and tamer attitudes. Pat, it wasn't popular with some of the moderators but thanks for taking a stand on that, and making a change for the better on here.

It might take me longer than 3 months but I will walk through and sort them.

The ONE thing I would like to see changed, is to ban tapatalk. All pictures uploaded through that app are not visible on my phone in "full site" mode. The links may or may not open a picture, and when it does it must be downloaded. That requires deleting in the future (or immediately) decreasing overall efficiency of using the site. My phone is a one generation back Samsung Galaxy, so it's not it's fault.

Tapatalk has nothing to do with the fact you cannot upload pictures from your phone when browsing fullsize mode. That is a limitation with the mobile device file system and the core application the forum runs from. If I removed tapatalk, I'd be skint alive.

Since several of my previous ONE picks have already been posted... I think
I'd like for the page boxes (in the lower righthand corner) on the
TODAY's POST
section page to be increased to a much higher number so folks could follow
the more recent posts with less trouble.

During periods of heavy posting, a recent member post can get shoved off
the first 3 lists pretty quickly. It can get tough to find them after that.

Maybe there's a trick I need to learn, but at this stage in using the SS site...
that's something that I'd like to see changed if it's possible.

BTW... Here's a pic that might explain better what I just tried to point out above!

Why is there now a 90 second delay on refreshing when searching?

Because vB search queries are horrendous when it comes to table logs and execute times. I've seen users submit search after search after search, which locks the tables while they're at it. This causes the site to slow/stop/crawl when they do. That's ONLY with the internal/advanced search. The google search runs independently.

That's internal coding to the software we use. It is what it is unfortunately.

I would remove one of the links (member map)possibly and add the feedback tab. I've been looking for feedback of other members that purchase from me before I mail items to them and of yet everyone has been a stand up and dependable person. But I'd still like to have a quick access to those persons feedback scores. I've been looking for a while now and can't find a link to feedback. I know I can check the persons profile, but I think a link would be beneficial to all members!

That's under individuals profiles. There's no link to everyone's profile/feedback. You need to view the person who you are dealing with.

I understand that, Just throwing my thoughts out. But I still believe that a feedback tab would be beneficial. A quick link if you will.

One other thing I would absolutely love to see is a search function for posts inside of a particular thread. Say I want to know about bed dimensions. I get to the 5 ton and up thread and search in that thread only, not all threads together.Just another thought.
