I have searched and read conflicting information.

Have two 24v solargizers
Installing on M925A2 with the standard 4 6AGM Hawker battery's.
What Is the correct hookup for these?

Ive read different ways in the 5ton and Deuce forums and the pictures posted were not any help because the wiring was like spaghetti and couldn't be followed and poor picture quality
Some say use only one.
Most say use both.
Some say use slave port

I would like to use both and hard wire them to the battery terminals.
The panels will be installed on a bracket, mounted on the spare tire boom.

Could someone please draw a proper schematic for this? Seen it drawn different ways.
I don't want to wire it in a way that will harm the battery's.

Which is why I'm trying to clarify it here.

Thanks.

Hi. I have a 92 a2 with solargizers. I took some pics of the factory install for you. Email me at wbketterer@sbcglobal.net for the info you need. I'm kind of new to the site. Still haven't figured out how to upload phone pics. If you need more pics, let me know. The passenger seat is up as we speak to charge the batteries I accidentally drained.

If you want to use both 24v units then you will put the pos and neg connections from One of the units on the corresponding pos & neg of each 24v bank of batteries. If you decide to use a single 24v unit for all 4 batteries you just put the pos & neg connections to the same pos & neg posts that the slave uses.

What do you consider a bank?
Front to back or side to side?
The single charger is easy but want to use two.

Like I said, I've read both ways mentioned on this site ( doing two unit hookup).

I want to know the correct way

Do the wires to your four Hawkers have ID numbers on each wire? They should look like plastic band aids and have numbers printed on them.

I cannot help you if you are using anything other than the solar devices used by the military. The military uses only one device and it is a 24-volt PulseTech model. There are three wires for connecting to the bank of four batteries: one a 12-volt, one a 24-volt, and one for a ground. The PulseTech 24-volt wire connects to a positive battery pole along side the cable labeled #49. You must confirm this cable is the positive lead to the slave receptacle. The 12-volt PulseTech lead connects to battery cable #569. Disregard this information if you are using any other solar device or if you are not sure the battery configuration has not been changed from the standard military one.

These are the military ones. (IS-24-L Solargizer)
I have seen them on the 5 tons and other trucks that the military installed.
Panels mounted right in front of windshield.
I have the very same ones installed on my CUCVs and HUMMWV.

The four battery setup is what I'm trying to correctly verify.

I Think your talking about a newer system. I don't have nor am I familiar with the one you are referring to.

I have 2 Solargizers as well but I am currently only running 2 batteries, so they are not connected.

I made a small diagram, hope it helps. It may not be 100% correct, but it is the way I would connect my 2 Solargizers if I had 4 batteries. The Solargizer units have a positive and negative output, just got to remember to connect each unit to a pair of batteries that are in series (24V) for it to work properly.

If you look at the diagram, it shows multiple connections, but it should still work.

The reason I believe this should work fine is, on my CUCV, when I take a voltage reading connecting to the front battery post only, it reads around 14 volts, not 24, even though the batteries are connected in series. Now connect the multimeter to positive of the rear battery and negative of the front battery, it reads 24V, the same should be true for connecting a Solargizer.

Make your connections at each battery, using the terminal lug.

Battery tray wiring diagram included for reference:

Battery tray Diagram:\

My Solargizer diagram:\

untitled.jpg

Solargizer #1 connections should be :
Positive Solargizer lead connected at Positive terminal of Battery #2
Negative Solargizer lead connected at Negative terminal of Battery #4

Solargizer #2 connections should be:
Positive Solargizer lead connected at Positive terminal of Battery #1
Negative Solargizer lead connected at Negative terminal of Battery #3

I made a small but bad mistake when drawing out the diagram, so I had to edit the post. Disregard the "attached" diagram, it is shows an incorrect connection at battery #3 that would probably result in a short, so DO NOT FOLLOW IT.
Also I noticed I show a connection on the diagram to negative terminal 2 of the battery, this should be Battery 4, my apologies. I should really check my diagrams before posting them so that they are not so confusing,

I bought an M923 and M931 in 2011. They were both 2009 rebuilds. They both came with the PulseTech mounted in the first battery bay from the passenger door followed by the batteries. I was sharing what I know. Sorry I am of no help for you.

great diagram but still confusing to me.
How would this relate to the battery tray layout?

Which way is the front of truck?
That will then show me exactly what I'm looking for.

I Think it's time for a cigar.......

I just included the battery tray layout for reference, you'll have to decipher your battery layout to how it corresponds to it. The diagram is a general layout, not to be confused with how it actually is in the tray, since that can change when someone changes a battery(ies).

Best idea I can offer since I can't see you layout is to take a clear picture of it and/or follow the battery leads, they will tell you what battery is what, not with a label but how it is physically connected.

You have to treat a 4 battery set up as if it were actually just 2 batteries, since it takes 2 12V batteries to get the 24V, they have to run in pairs. 24V Solargizers can't charge a 12V battery individually and it would work the same to add more leads to connect to both batteries, so you have to make the connection like a multimeter would to get the 24V pixies in the battery. You use 1 Solargizer for 2 batteries since it takes 2 batteries to make 24V. So in turn, you connect the positive lead from the solargizer to the positive terminal of one battery and the negative lead from the solargizer to the negative terminal of the other battery. Since the battery cable from the 1st battery is connected to the negative of the 2nd battery, we have our 24V connection.

It is easy to get confused with this, series parallel connections and other configurations, so you're not alone.

Correct.
The two battery hookup is very easy.
The part that is confusing is do I hook it up front to back or side to side? As they sit in the tray.
Making it worse is the previous threads have related to both.
I'm trying not to fry the solargizers.

I would like to see a pic of that setup

This is a new truck that arrived last week, but the other trucks are wired the same.
New Hawkers in 10 days.

Front of truck is to the right.

Each of the circled battery pairs are 24V with their Pos & Neg connections identified.

Then outside of the two circled battery pairs are the locations marked for when charging all 4 batteries with a single 24v unit.
