Hey anyone ever try it ?
I realize a million threads on putting a Deuce bed on an M818 tractor but I'm thinking about doing it to an M813.
I have an 813 that needs a cab and bed. I have a deuce I cut up for parts with a clean cab and bed. The Deuce bed looks like it will fit without shortening the wheelbase. Just have to whack 18 inches off the frame and flip the mounts for the hitch.
the Duece bed I have is pretty clean so unless I find a trade for a 14 ft bed , it makes sense to use it no ?

Why cut anything? Just stick the bed on and set it so it is at the same spot on the end as the normal bed and put a crane or tool boxes/tire storage in front of the bed.

I did consider that but not sure how it would look. The M939s also have the stack taking up space. Thought about using a toolbox/spare tire rack from an M39/M809 series.

Its your truck, do as you please. I'm of the crane school of thought, they are SO handy to have. You could find a spare cab and make a Stretched cab for some storage room too

Crane would work, keep the MRAP spare in the front on the bed. I have a NOS Fassi Crane still in the crate, intended for the Buffalo MRAP, my plans have changed , I have M936 now.

I saw a bunch of those getting turned to scrap. The trucks were new or near new. It made me sick.

Even a tunnel box commonly seen on commercial wreckers would work nicely. Lots of wonderful possibilities lye there.

I put a regular 5 ton dropside bed on my M927A2 and put a 5th wheel behind it.

Long wheel base trucks are not that common.....I would not cut the frame on it to shorten it up.

Short wheel base trucks are going pretty cheap these days.
