New M135 owner checking in.

Hello all!
I've been a lurker on here for a while and now finally scored my first duece!
It's a 1952 M135 s/n 5076 Navy truck?( maybe not found od under blue)
It has 38k on the speedo with no rebuild tags!
This truck was found in the back of a abandoned warehouse where it had sat for about 25-30 years!
I live in CT and it is pretty rare to find a rust free truck 5 years old never mind 63 years old!
It was painted od green at some point very badly.
I'm excited to get the restore/mods going on this truck!
I will start a build thread once I start!!

What clues do you have that it was former Navy? That blue says Civil Defense post military use to me. Looks like a great unit to start with.

Certainly wish there was more info on the Civil Defense Vehicles that roamed the U.S. in the early years of the Cold War. We're starting to dig up some wild history North of the border and have documentation showing the G749 was used in many roles protecting the continent.

It'd be just as interesting if it was a Navy truck so regardless of her past, you've got an iconic find, thanks for sharing!

I'm still digging for "Blue" G749, CD trucks through fire-station images but they're rare. We've seen a few Yellow ones but finding colored photos from the 50's is tough.

I think the blue is a civilian thing as well, but I sure could be wrong.

This is one of my parts trucks that I pulled out of the woods a few years ago. It is serial number 3194 and registration number 41122836.

Does anyone know what a NOS full canvas top is worth? I'm not planning on using it and I need some more $ for a hardtop.
It has a mfg. Date of feb 45.
It is in near perfect condition just a little dusty.
Any help would be great.

It is not a m135 cover but bonus it is a late war (M135's weren't made till the 50's) The ORD# 24-C-3425 means it is a WWII CCKW cargo cover and should be worth a couple hundred.

Just a word of caution, check or inspect the stitching carefully. I've had a NOS CCKW canvas tops etc that looked great until I tried to install them and the aged stiching let go as soon as we gave it a little tug. 70+ year old canvas can fool you. If it does then the value is a lot less also fold it over on itself (not on a edge but in the middle) and try to tear it, if it tears, value is down.
