CUCV Long Term storage container

I bought some storage containers last week and saw these.
They literally just arrived and the other one was still on the truck.
Brand new 40'
High box 9'6"
Corden Steel
.
Whomever did the paint, they did a really nice job.
Govt. spec for sure. Hinges have grease zerts.

Perfect for storing two CUCVs long term. If they fit width wise.
Maybe one and a lot of misc parts and gear.

Install solar battery maintainers on roof, hooked up to trucks, for fresh battery's

I like the Camo paint job.
Ive used containers for years, they make great storage.
A little tight on parking in them but they are rodent proof.

Ive used them for years. Haven't tried truck storage yet.
Will be doing that for sure in the very near future.

Just never seen any like these before.

I just can't justify that cost. Wife would kill me.
Same thing Brand new without camo is 1k cheaper.

Definitely charging a premium for these!!

Has/Is anyone stored a CUCV in these?

Would like to see some pics and hear what works and what doesn't using these to store a truck(s).

I have a couple that I use for vehicle storage.
They work great but are a little tight getting in & out of.
I also have a 53ft one that's 6in wider.
No pics right now
Like I said earlier they are rodent proof, keeps the field mice from tearing up the wiring.

You may be able to drive one in but how would you get out of the vehicle? Back in the day we would internal load HMMWV's in Chinooks and crawl out the back. Obviously not an option in an M1008 but you could do it for an M1009 also.

You can install a 3' or 4' prehung steel door in the side of the container where the door of your vehicle will be when parked. Open the door and drive in the end to where you can get out the door easily. Then lock the doors and your good! Just be sure to install the door to open out and install it so it is still rodent proof.

I think I will just put the transfer case in neutral and push it inside.
Even if I could crawl out the window would be down. Don't want that.

Going to put the M1009 inside and I am looking for another M1008 to store.
The 1009 is a rust free one and runs great. I don't drive it very much at all.
Hopedully I can find another rust free 1008/28 to store. It will be running with no issues when it gets put away.

The container is sitting in the shade so it won't be an oven inside to bake them.
Will have full fuel and proper long storage measures taken. Can't do anything about the tires flat spotting. No room to jack up and put trucks on blocks.

Thats the plan anyway.
The 1009 goes inside Saturday.

What are the pros and cons of using ISO containers for storage? I was wondering about humidity and condensation. I have been having trouble with that in S280 shelters and they are insulated.

Pros are rodent free = no eaten wiring. I bought a suburban to use for parts & parked it out in the field, couple months later none of the wiring is useable.
Mice have gotten to the insulation on all the wiring.

Cons I do have a little condensation issues but live with it.
I've considered installing a few vents with very small, heavy duty mesh
screening, but haven't done so. I prefer it being weather tight over venting

The only problem we have here is it gets to hot in them plastic stuff almost melts on stuff usually gets almost to 150 degrees sometimes in the summer inside. we found that if you add a small solar panel and hook it directly to a small computer fan and draw air from one side to the other it helps alot.

The container I have my trucks stored in have 4 factory vents on each side. They vent but will keep rain water out even in a bad storm.
No issues with condensation at all.

That would be much better then a shipping container. A barn works really well also. The dust and air do a good job of preserving things. Of course a climate controlled storage unit would be the best. They have them near my home for $195. per month to store an MG midget in. The one that a CUCV pickup fits in is $275. per month. $3000. per year no thank you. I will set them in the barn. That is an awesome set up you have there.

The cover works for a daily driver.

The two I have in a container will be there for years. At least 5
They were properly prepared for this.

No pics for OPSEC reasons. Other things are in the trucks.

What about a tire rack above the hood and just junk tires on the truck?

I put pallet racks in mine, store stuff above the bed (truck backed in).
I keep stuff in front of the trucks that I need out more often.

I don't have no stinkin mices. I have El Gato to take care of the mices/misis . Not mush in a CUCV for the misis to live off of. But traps and cats keep the mice away. Well I guess maybe 1 could get thru. Maybe. Good Luck with the long term storage. What are you storing them for?

If they sit in the sun they are an oven for sure.
Mine sits in the shade just enough.
So far the temps inside have been the same as outside.

Now they the angle of the sun is changeing it catches some sun now, but the daily temps are much cooler.
Checked it two days ago and temps were good.

Have a bracket mounted to the top corner that angles out with Solargizers.
Batteries doing fine.
