Temp gauge test

Did some testing today.....
Tested 6 gages of each brand : Faria, and Clark. ** most used, some new.}
Also used a used and New Faria sending unit.
From 160 to 200 Clarks read approx. 20 deg. lower, and at 220 and above, about 5 to 15 deg. lower .than Faria.

Thanks Greg. And both types read lower than actual. So when gauge reads hot, the engine crossover is HOTTER!

My real world non-scientific observations confirm this. I have been pleased that my HMMWV maintains an even ~200 degrees, but that bubble burst when I saw the rain steaming off the hood on a 75 degree day today. Looks like I will be pulling out the old laser thermometer to check temps.

since these gauges are off so much is there a more accurate aftermarket one?

replaced my crappie Gage with this.

So I guess it works with the 24v system Any mods required to put one in?

These are 12 volt other than that easy.
And well worth it that crap one Oshkosh put in you couldn't tell where it was

Hewitt Industries is a great source for 24V gauges. Nice prices too.

I will probably go with the Hewitt since they come in 24v
