I pulled a injector to clean and inspect today.I found I have the 2 hole type,I hooked up the fuel line and put the injector in a clear plastic bottle to check spray pattern. I have only the mist spray and not the stream I expected to see. I t looks like one hole may be plugged. This truck has sat for years and is new to me, is the way I tested my injector proper? Will I see 2 patterns 1 stream and a mist?

To test one properly, you need to control the fuel pressure(and read it), to see when it releases(pops).

Also important is spray pattern.

Also important is no leakage up to the "pop off" pressure.

Your test proved it squirted, and nothing else.

Both the ones I rebuilt and bought new "misted" the fuel. None of them had a stream(cept the old ones that I took out).

Thanks,I understand the above. I guess I used the wrong word(proper) Not having a diesel shop nearby means for now working in my yard trying to beat the bad weather. I guess I can pull another injector and compare. I understand that one hole shoots fuel into the piston cup and the other shoots a mist to start the flame. I was thinking with one hole plugged the one that fills the piston cup the cylinder can still fire but be under powered.
