A question: What does the "airborne" mean for this vehicle?

Is it designed to be parachuted into action?

Is it fielding an anti-aircraft gun?
BMD-4 (airborne fighting vehicle-4) - Russian military tracked amphibious vehicle designed to transport personnel of the Airborne Troops, increase its mobility, the armed and security of the battlefield. Landing to the ground on parachute.

All I know is that if you send in the Airborne you have to at least
give them the latest which is unpublicized for a reason.
Agreed, that along with food, ammo, and fuel, unless it's going to be a VERY short mission. Wanted to thank Ahab for reviving the thread, always good to "see" what's goin on..............

For years, our airborne tank was the M-551 Sheridan. The thing was not a roaring success. I remember when the last ones were sent out of Bamberg. No one cried to see them go.
