So using this data plate as an example, you're saying that it looks like this is a 2005 model year truck?

It looks like a data plate from the reset, which might be the reset date.
This one below is an example of a AM general produced data plate.

Called AM General and they will be calling me back. They should be able to tell me by the serial number or SOMETHING.

From their website they say: "More than 280,000 HMMWVs are produced by 2012". My serial # of 219638 might be an indicator of the year even if they can't help. I'm trying to find production totals by year.

good luck with am general. I have a 2016 GEP and they did not know they switched forges sometime in 2014. Navistar no longer cast the 6.5 GEP. It is now cast by Dalton Forge. I received my motor and it did not have Navistar markings so I was going to send it back. It took me a week to get a straight answer so I would not expect much help from them. The dealer I bought it from was able to help me get it figured out.

The new castings do not pertain to your motor, yours was a Navistar but I would be surprised if they can give you any usable info.

I posted the info about the casting change in my optimizer thread.

AM General has been strongly against Humvees being in civilian hands, except for Arnold, from the very beginning so do you really think they are going to call you back?

I believe AMG never put that scannable box on their data plates. And, they were stamped (or engraved), not printed.
Off topic. That m1123 plate shows it as 10.3k. I have seen people saying they are 12k.

the chassis on these m1123's are all 12k components, they are identical to my M1097A2. Probably an ECV chassis, definitely not REV...but that's obvious. 12k hubs, halfshafts, larger rotors, frame rails are beefier.
Best bet is to find out what years the M1123 was produced, these have the first iteration of serpitine setup, not the casted version but what I call a "serp plate". Greg is right though, the qaustion is, what did they do at the reset facility on the data plates. I had a USMC truck here from a govt agency, there was a new data plate on top of the old data plate.
it reads M1151A1, the new data plate read M1151A1B1 DOD 01/07 SN2446XX.

This is really spiraling off topic, but I'm loving the conversation. That serial # of 2446xx falls roughly 25,000 units after mine in the serial number range. If my truck rolled off the line in 2005 at 219,638 and that one in 2007 at 2446xx, that matches pretty well with AM General's claim that 280,000 units were made by 2012. That would have been another 35,000 units between 2007 and 2012, which is a realistic number given the slowdown in military purchase of Humvees around that time.

If that's true, then that 2446xx with a DoD of 1/07 and my M1123 with a DoD of 2/05 means one of three things to me:

1) They changed the serial number with a data plate refresh. I doubt this.
2) The DoD is actually close to when it was actually made and therefore GovPlanet model years are accurate.
3) These trucks were just on the same reset schedule and the DoD is just an offset. In order to believe this, I'd have to believe that 2196xx happened significantly earlier than 2005 but after 1998 (due to it being an A2). This would mean that AM General had to drastically slow production down during war-time, which I highly doubt.

I'm leaning towards #2 at the moment. The AM General rep was very friendly on the phone and said "if someone doesn't call you today they will first thing tomorrow morning." Maybe they're pulling my chain. I don't know. It was worth a simple phone call to have tried.

Personally, I would love having a 2005 HMMWV and I am hoping it is one even thought it doesn't really matter as far as options. As a Hummer H1 enthusiast my whole life, 2005 was the first year they stopped production of the Hummer H1. They tried 1 more year in 2006 with the H1 Alpha and cancelled the entire H1 program after that.

Keeping up with part of this - here's the date stamp right rear block on my rig. It's a '93 HMMWV with a 6.5L. Valve covers and manifold painted black. No emissions sticker on the valve cover. Date stamp on block is 06 03 R. GEP engine block June 3, 2009?
