Choctow H-140 Heater parts needed

I just pickup a Choctow H-140 Heater that is NEW, never unpacked. It has the wheels busted off the unite, which I will reweld. as I was unpacking the unit I could not find the exhaust elbow and someone got the fuel gauge. Anyone know where I can get them??Used is ok also.

The exhaust elbow / stack looks identical to the one my my H-82, no idea where to get a spare, but thought it might help to know they look the same on the H-82 /H-83 heaters.

I will look at mine tomorrow. It looks like a standard riding lawnmower fuel gauge.

I called Choctaw for parts last year....they did not have anything in stock for the H-140 (I was looking for the flexible ducts). If you can't find the elbow, it can be easily fabricated (flange with 4 hole bolt pattern welded to a 90 degree elbow).

These heaters are fantastic! I used it to heat a 40x40x15 pole barn when it was 5 degrees out (used about a gallon of diesel per hour). I have an ongoing problem with it flaming out.....but should have that resolved by winter.

that's what I'm going to do this weekend, make me an flange with an elbow from an auto parts store.. the only thing next is to go to a lawn mower place with the other cap and see if they have something that will at least cover the whole till I come up with a gauge.. Thanks for the info on how much it uses and how good it works. Lowes sells 12" A/C heating duct that is insulated in 25" rolls for under $50. It can take up to 250 degrees. I'll repost when I get done with the setup.

I ended up using the same duct from Lowes.....it didn't last in the outside elements (wind tore it apart). I plan on using a flexible steel duct this winter (wrap in insulation)......and hope that holds up. On a side note, I found an issue with the supplied plug (after splicing into the supplied power cord)......it kept throwing a GFCI circuit. I couldn't find a short anywhere.....so tried on a non-gfci outlet...worked fine. Hoping someone can identify this issue (as I've grounded it, checked for any current leak).

Mine throws the GFCI as well. If you look at the wiring diagram, it has many, many EMI (electromagnetic interference) jumpers at the main terminal board, remote, etc. I think that's the issue were the leak is. So yes, non-GFCI is the solution. I looked at several mil standards and I don't think a required GFCI would apply here anyway. And it appears that the vast majority for mil single phase follows NEC.

Anyone know where i can find parts for the CHoc h140? Recently bought one only to find out the fuel filter and bottom half of the housing were gone. Thanks

Download the TM's through LOGSA. There are two of them. I don't think (nor can I find them) in the TM Forum of this site. The fuel filter stuff is off the shelf. Find the NSN and cross to your favorite FLAPS part number. The bowl and filter are readily available. I carry a spare filter in the inner holder.

Hey, Neophyte, any pics of your install with the flexible steel duct?

I was having flame out issues when it was below about -10. Switched to No. 1 and have had no issues since. This heater is fantastic.

Here is a pic of the fuel filter and number if that helps. Wherever you get the filter, just ask if they have the number for the head.

The head may be a bit pricey, it has a built in primer pump. Mine isnt available at this time or I would get you some better photos. It is being used to heat a gym so if it warms up here, I will go take the top off to get some photos of the head for you.

NSN = National Stock Number - this is the military's part number
TM = Technical Manual (these contain troubleshooting, repair and parts information)
Download TMs here: https://www.logsa.army.mil/etms/index.cfm, search for H-140 in the title
Find NSN (or manufacture's part number if it's there)
Then cross NSN to other parts numbers --> I like to use www.wbparts.com
Then go to your FLAPS = Favorite Local Area Parts Store to buy part.
Your part number for the filter is R20P --> crosses to NAPA 3614
The base number is RK22350-02 --> it doesn't cross to much else --> it shows up all over the internet
And the entire fuel filter assembly is 230R --> it doesn't cross to much either bit it's all over the internet for purchase.
