Floor Shifter / Reverse Lights

Soooo, last spring, I installed a B&M floor shifter in my M1009. Why? Because I like having my shifter there --end of story.

The problem--I need to find a way to get my reverse lights to work with this shifter. There is a safety switch that prevents me from starting it in gear (came with the kit), but, nothing for the reverse lights.

You will need to install a microswitch onto the shifter to control the reverse lights. I have never used that exact b&m shifter so I don't know how the microswitch mounts to it but just get another switch like the one that is used for the neutral safety and play with mounting positions until your reverse lights work the way you want. Should be an easy project.

Have you looked to see if B&M makes a reverse light switch for your shifter?.
My 69 Camaro has a Hurst 1/4 stick shifter (yes Cucvrus, its an old race car turned street car). Both the neutral safety switch and the reverse light switch were options that I had to buy separately.

As I said, I just like it there. I like resting my hand on the shifter, I'm used to a lifetime of shifting manually--No real good reason other than 'cause I could and 'cause I wanted to. Personal preference. I linked to the exact model and it's nothing special--just moves the mechanism from the column to the floor...I knew if anyone asked why, you would...

I did find a switch from B&M (imagine that!). $11.11--ANOTHER project....

I have a winters (art carr) shifter in the same place. Right now I have a manual backup light switch which sucks. Thanks for the switch find!

That is a hand throttle or at least that is what we do with them.
