Donaldson Pre Cleaner-Full View on HMMWV: Good Idea, Bad Idea or Waste of Money?

I searched the forum and only found discussions on the big trucks and CUCV but nothing on HMMWVs.

I've seen these on some Fort Irwin HMMWVs but have not used a vehicle with one attached. I was thinking of installing one on my HMMWVs especially at the price of 25.00 each.

Are the Donaldson Pre cleaner's worth installing/using on HMMWVs? For the Steel Soldiers who experienced these, What have you noticed about the pre cleaner and the performance in the HMMWV.

If you operate in a dusty environment that make a huge difference in how often you need to clean your air filter.

I have the syclone and very impressed as it has a spinning fan that forces air down. I think it helps performance but have no concrete proof. I would recommend it over just a precleaner and looks better to boot. I paid more than gimpyrobb's ad so I would jump on that!

Can't speak to the Donaldson precleaner but I've got the Turbo III, which seems to be similar to the Sy-Klone, and it seems to be doing a decent job from what I can tell.

My filter looked brand new when I got my truck and was dated pretty recently. Put the Turbo III on before I started driving it around. Have almost 3,000 miles on my truck so far and the filter still looks nearly new.

I had one on my 951c Caterpillar Trac loader......It came with it.....It needed it because the bucket was up front and lots of time I was loading "dust" into dump trucks.....
