I have a new to me 6.5L marine NA motor with approx 4,500hrs on it. It has a little more visible blowby than the old 6.2, but otherwise the motor runs perfect and smooth. I just finished putting a turbo from an 07.5 Cummins 6.7 on it and cranked the fuel up about half a turn. Without the turbo fuel was bumped 1/8 turn and max EGT towing uphill was 1,200*. Currently the WG is set for 14psi max and even with the added fuel it isn't getting over 850*.
I have several questions so please bear with me. Being a 99+ 6.5 marine NA, is this still a lower compression motor? What is the safe boost range for this particular motor? HWY cruising, hills, and even moderate towing it keeps around 10psi and only goes up to 14psi when you stay in it and wrap the rpms higher. Also, what is acceptable blowby? Oil pressure is steady but I seem to burn a QT every 500-600 miles. More than I'm used to, but it's a spotless clean running motor otherwise.
TIA.
